Ok curious as to why in the year 2009 our kids can't even have a homecoming dance? My son told me that even though Vilonia has a prom they get in trouble for dancing, this is crazy.

Just ask the allmighty sb churches in the area. Because dancing is a sin apparently and the school is allowed to make decisions based on religious beliefs that only a few denominations share. Actually I heard through the grape vine that up until the 1980's they had dances but Mr. sellars said if the punch gets spiked one more time there would not be any more dances, it got spiked and he was true to his word. I don't know how accurate that story is though.

I was attending Vilonia schools when Footloose was released. No the movie wasn't based on Vilonia but it was pretty darned funny when viewing the movie in Conway, to hear people say "This is just like Vilonia." My kids attend the school now and the only school sanctioned dance is Prom. The Prom comes with some very strict rules regarding dress, who can attend and how close you can dance. According to Conway Bridal Shop VHS is more stict than the Christian schools in the area when it comes to dresses. According to the kids, the school sucks all the fun out of the experience. Seems crazy that they worry more about dancing than the long running tradition of teen pregnancy. As my Momma used to say "They need to get those girls off their backs and on their feet dancing".

I was informed today by Dr. Mitchell, that they tried to have dances, but no one came to them, that is why they don't have them anymore.

That is probably true. Who wants to go to a dance that you can't have any fun at?

Well, when your administration doesn't support them how can the kids expect to have fun.
