Why can't the school post absence counts on their website? Teachers are still required to notify the front office of each student not in class that day. You don't need to give names, just counts of absences by grade level.

Sounds to me like the parents are getting ready to sue. The flu is everywhere. Do they not go out to the store or other places. These people need to keep abreast of the news.

First off...they have come to the conclusion that pretty much everyone who has the flu right now has H1N1. Second off the only way its life threatening is if you don't take care of it. Just like ANY other flu. Keep well hydrated and if your fever doesn't break or gets too high go to the hospital. Other than that stop freaking out. All it does it put everyone in an unecessary panic...kind of like the one everyone is in right now. Gets your facts straight. The flu has been a major killer for years, it always has and always will mutate {thats science people}...

Parents must be getting more stupid. H1N1 is everywhere, not just the schools. The vaccine is out there and kids are most at risk. There has been plenty of warning. As a parent I assume there is flu at my kids' school. Why don't these parents think the same way?

Gene Bickley and his wife Janice Amos are angry.
Their three elementary-school aged children rode the school bus with at least two students who were diagnosed with H1N1 influenza, or swine flu.

Joining them in their frustration are neighbors Linda and David Armstrong. It was two of the Armstrong's three children who were confirmed H1N1 victims.

SO THE ARMSTRONGS SICK RUG RATS RODE THE BUS WHILE INFECTED WITH H1N1 NOW THEY ARE ALSO UPSET,FUNNY HOW THEY POINT FINGERS!...LOSERS BOTH FAMILYS

There is an article in The Atlantic November 2009 about the H1N1 swine flu virus and vaccine. It was recommended to me by my husband (who is in pharmaceuticals) when i asked about our 6 year old grandchild and 82 year old mother being at risk. He thought it was the best he'd seen to date and it's readable for concerned parents and caregivers.

I'm sorry, but these parents are IDIOTS. Is the school supposed to send home a flier every time a student gets the regular influenza, too? Because regular influenza kills more people than H1N1 each year. I just got over H1N1. I went to the doctor with a fever and was tested. Sure enough it was H1N1, which I received from a co-worker who came to work sick. Besides being incredibly uncomfortable and sick for a week, it wasn't unlike any other flu I remember having as a child. When I asked the doctor what I could do to ensure my hubby didn't catch it, he laughed at me. He said pretty much everyone could count on getting H1N1 before the end of the flu season, so brace yourselves people! Just take care of yourselves, eat healthy, and REST when you get it. Oh and btw, if it makes any difference to any of you, I am 26 and was told this is why it knocked me on my A$$ like it did. My co-worker is in her late 50's, hence the reason she came to work thinking it was "just a cold." It doesn't affect older people the same, so if you're over 50, I wouldn't be too concerned.

The Andersons are idiots. It's THE FLU! Spreading panic or hysteria over something that happens every year is ignorant & irresponsible. If my child becomes ill, I now know who to sue in the case of his "wrongful" death. The Andersons may pay me in cash or cashiers check only. The sky is falling, we have a right to know. fools.....

This is dumb. Schools don't notify parents when students come down withthe seasonal flu, and the swine flu isn't tuberculosis or the bubonic plague. Yes, people have died from H1N1, but they die from seasonal flu, as well. Since H1N1 has the same patterns of infect that seasonal flu does, it would be pointless to try to send a letter home to parents every time a new case develops. There are just too many.
