He was at a house party, from the sounds of it, and I really get frustrated with the idea of sueing the people hosting the party or the bar or restaurant that served the alcohol. There's something called PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY. This guy chose to drink and drive, and as a result someone got killed. He alone is responsible for that.

My condolences to the woman's family, especially that darling little girl who is going to grow up without her Mommy now - breaks my heart.

Takes a real man to leave a dead woman in a car. Hope he gets what he deserves but knowing this state and its catch and release program for drunk drivers he will get a slap on the hands and MAYBE community service.

Come up to St. Louis County where the judges have virtually decriminalized a first time DUI. Offenders now are not even given supervised probation as the probation system was overwelhmed. Regarding driving under influence of Marijuana. Nobody can tell you how many accidents/deaths it causes because it is not tested for except for those with CDL's - never - ever - anyplace. Yet it has been proven to cause a great deal of impairment, this is the reason people with CDL's, pilots, etc. are forbidden the use of Marijuana, alcohol and numerous other drugs. It is called zero tolerance.
Don't like the rules about driving while impaired? Move to St. Louis County where the judges , etc., now look the other way.

I'm sorry - do you personally know this guy? I mean, you are seriously suggesting:

1. Because he is an alcoholic (according to you) he can't possibly not drink. Alcoholic or not, we're still all responsible for our own behavior - I've known people who liked to drink a fair amount, but they knew better than to drive around after doing so. Were they alcoholics? Maybe. But they made good decisions when it came to driving (or not driving, actually).

2. Bars and restaurants cram alcohol down people's throats and force them to drink. I have to tell you, I've been to plenty of establishments in my day and never, not once has anyone tried to force me to drink anything. Minnesota has some of the most stringent liquor laws in the country when it comes to responsbility of the bartender/server.

I do know him, and I know his family well. He grew up a great kid, well educated and very involved with basketball. He ran a community center, coached the youth programs and went to college. The problem where he grew up is if you are a community member enrolled in the Lower Souix Community, you can't live any farther away then 10 miles from the reservation (if you are collecting a per/capita check). All there is to do is shoot pool, work at the casino and/or farm. All have point directly to nature vs. nuture. I haven't seen him in 4 years, but I would have to believe the restrictions of the ability to move away from the reservation finally brought this young man down. Don't get me wrong, there is no excuse to drink and drive and the punishment should fit the crime. Remember, don't judge a person you don't know, and don't blame others for your own actions and choices.

I went to school with Matt and he is a good friend. I know that this was an accident, regardless of what the story is. My heart goes out to him, his family and the family of the girl who has passed. I partied with them back home in Redwood over the winter. Tragic yes.

Yes, its really horrible for a young man to live close to the place where he collects a check for $80,000 a month and then complaine that he has nothing to do. You could try a job!! And if the punishment should fit the crime are you saying he should be put to death?

Daily Horoscope for December 10

Leo

Be choosy about who you spend time with today. If you're with someone who's habitually miserable or sorry for themselves, you'll soon be dragged down to their level and will struggle to recover again. However, you may feel such sympathy for their plight that you don't see you have any choice but to be with them. If so, do your best to remain positive.
