A routine traffic stop in Vero Beach turned out to be anything but routine. That's because the arresting officer wasn't an officer at all.

I think insanity has become airborne.

The lack of details in this web site's articles is frustrating. Did anyone gather whether he was in a police car, or did he have a plain car with lights and a siren?
This lady was smart enough to go to a public place and call police. It is my understanding that due to the easy availability of fake lights you have the right to not pull over until a marked car is sent to the scene.

It's not like this is the first time this has happened, it's happened in Duval and Nassau county as well. They just didn't act as if it was a big deal. It's only news when the media wants it to be.

Lets all paint ourselves black, where dread lock wigs and enormous short pants, and imitate criminals so this wannabe cop has someone to chase down.

It can be difficult at times, JSO has started using unmarked (covert) cars for traffic enforcement, but when they turn on their lights, I don't think there is any question if they are valid. FHP has several simular vehicles. I have see the FBI and customs in some questionable vehicles with teardrop blue lights on the dash. If you have any dought call 911 keep them on phone and go to a highly populated area nearby.
It is better to be safe than sorry. Oh be careful to obey all traffic laws while doing this.

I get so tired of hearing "the person I knew would never do that" Well look buddy he did, and if it wasn't for her on the cell phone who knows what would have happened.

Wonder how many other women he's stalked nad attacked.

That's why I told my wife if she getting stopped by a cop to:
1) Slow down.
2) Put on her hazard lights to let him/her know she recognizes he/she is pulling her over.
3) Drive to a store or public place.
Cops will not have a problem with that if you explain to them your reason for doing this. Crazy guys like this make it a must!

Also of concern is that the cops aren't always in uniform.

I think the Jax Police Dept. should at least remove the tinted windows and THE SEARCHLIGHT from the cars they sell to the used car dealers. Just short of a blue light there are at least 15 former police cars driving around the regency area and you really can't tell if it is a cop until you get close or see the tag.

They should remove the spot lights and push bars, not the tint, anyone can add tint. But I agree you have a hard time telling difference, even if you are or were a police officer.

She should have shot him once he attempted to gain access into her vehicle. Castle doctrine was penned for such instances.
