It is a controversial topic right now. The Council seems to think that these decisions are to be made by them alone. I would like to see them debate the topic and then have the item voted on.

My son is in middle school in Alpine, they made them write persuasive essays saying why they need a library in Alpine. If you don't agree, don't write one. Get a bad grade! Hmmmmm! Then they bring them up in council meeting without discussing other options.

The library is to be geared to young children and senior citizens so it really won't affect those middle school students at all. It is also to be built using donated books.(Is the librarian and the rent going to be donated too?)

They stopped plowing half the roads last winter and let police go to save money, now they are raising taxes to cover this... This library won't serve half of Alpine but...

Highland, basically seconds from Alpine has a brand new library with books to spare. The schools have additional library materials. The kind of library they want to build in Alpine is not really necessary. I say they subsidize the larger, new, highland library and join resources of the two cities. But -> they are not taking suggestions.

Beware election time. This year we need someone who can understand finances and allow Alpine Citizens a say.(bonus if they actually listen)
