someone want to take a guess at their speed???

>maybe even lowered to 65
Pat, the speed limit *IS* 65. And I doubt lowering it will make any difference. Personally my average safe cruising speed is about 80 on that section of 384 and I don't intend on changing. Ron, if you don't like the sound of cars, maybe you shouldn't live next to the highway! I know people on Spring Street and they don't seem to mind. I'm just amazed that everyone is alive. Best wishes Dawn, I hope you get better very soon! |

85 to 90 is a good (typical) speed for that section. I use it every day. Never a problem.
There is no speed enforcement except weekends and holidays. Not by my observations. |
|
With that level of damage 85 + |

Over the past 2 years I have made frequent trips to Providence using that stretch of highway. It is SOOO dangerous. Speeds are always in excess of 75 mph and there seems to be no enforcement!!

Here's an idea. Lets open up lime rock racktrack so all the speeders of this state can go, race their little hearts out, and not stop the flow of traffic.Just think, a place to test out your brand new car!!And your driving skills!!!!

Not safe to be driving that fast and a women driving a 2008 Mazda I'm sure she was doing a good amount of speed..not safe either!! Whatis the purpose of having to drive over 70+ anyway's..your just taking much more of a chance to NOT make it where you have to go at all. People need to be a little more causious.

They are both lucky to be alive. And I hope he learns that he should be wearing a seat belt, and that they should be driving the speed limit.

Sounds like a couple of idiots speeding. Who cares.

Believe me, there is enforcement on that stretch of highway...like yesterday when I was driving to Buckland Mall. I was going a good clip and people drive by me like I was standing still..and a police car went screaming by me to catch someone. It maybe far and few between, but there is a presence. They are lucky to be alive.

I would like to address this to Jon in Hartford, CT. What a horrible comment to make, these are 2 human beings and from what I understand this is a bad stretch of highway.
Your the idiot for making a comment like that. |

Right on Jan (in St Paul)! It's amazing how some people can be so insensitive.
Dawn, Wishing you a speedy recovery! |

Who cares Jon? Maybe someday you will when it happens to some "speeding idiot" that you know...

Kate, from Wallingford: you
are right about the drivers! Going at 70-75 mph, most cars pass you like you are standing still. It's unbelievable that people have to drive so fast! Slow down people cause the life you save just might be your own! |

If speeding is so commong on Rt384 then why aren't the state troopers there to catch them?
Even park a trooper car on the side of the road and you'll see speeding stop. Need to start enforcing these laws! |
Maybe all the cars are parked - saving fuel. |

I'm so sick of people thinking that they can drive however they want at whatever speed they want. Okay Junior, what happens when you're cruizing at 85 m.p.h. and someone who's doing the speed limit, or even a little above, suddenly cuts in front of you? Do you 1) slam on your brakes and hope not to hit the person or lose control of your own car, 2) drive off the side of the road, or 3) veer into the other lanes? Those are the only 3 choices you've got when your car is going faster than your mind. |

What is this story doing in the "Entertainment News?" I'd like to meet the people who think this is entertaining. No, actually, I wouldn't like to meet sick people like that!

it has nothing to do w/ the speed limit you moron. you can go 85 and still be safe. If youre drunk or aren't paying attention, youre gonna be eating the guardrail for an early breakfast.

Your blaming the roads? Listen reckless idiots speed. Period. Does not matter how dangerous the road is, if you drive safe, you will not cause an accident. Your just like every other ennabler out there blaming the "dangerous roads", how do you know these people were not high on drugs?
And not wearing a seat belt ? Are you kidding. You with a driver speeding at 1am and you don't have your seat belt on? I could not care less what happens to you or your dumb driver, you reap what you sew (unless its someone in my family of course):) |
