Good job by the police. However it is disturbing to see another example that as long as you are a gifted athlete UConn will overlook your criminal past.

What is happening to our Youngsters ?

Why ?

Perhaps lack of parental discipline and concern at the grade school level !

Although the young man actions were wrong. I feel the bond is set to high.If his behavior was not normal last week where was the staff. They should have checked it out.Was his behavior not normal when he was winning fo UCONN or since his time is up he is no longer needed.Just another case of use them as you need them.Once again the young man was wrong this comment is not about the black or white factor. It is about the right factor

This guy needed to be taken into custody if what is written is fairly accurate. He seemed to be spinning out of control.

The apparent combination of drugs, psychological problems and his perceived pressure from school and personal issues are a possible explosive situation.

Doesn't appear he was a violent person by nature. Maybe he can be helped. Hope he gets some instead of locked up and forgotten.

500K...wow.
I hope he didn't make a promise to his mom that she'd see him walk during graduation at Gampel.

He can run and jump so he gets into UNCONN. I thought University were places of learning? Most of the people running this society belong in a prison cell.

Just a couple of days ago a story was published about dozens of schools under the threat of NCAA sanctions (loss of athletic scholarships) unless they improve their graduation rates.

Yeah, I know, but it's a small step in the right direction.

It looks like our Law Enforcement officers did another outstanding job in enforcing the existing laws and getting this guy off the street before something really bad happened. Great Work!

I'm surprised he wasn't on the basketball team. He's athletic and a criminal, just the kind of person Calhoun looks for.

It sounds like he could use some mental health evaluation/counseling. Surely sitting in jail is not helping him. And isn't mentioning Virginia Tech a bit of a stretch?

Did you actually read the article? IT says his behavior was increasingly bizarre and many people around him and the police cooperated to prevent him from hurting someone.

More anti-gun stories. Not sure about this law - does it prohibit you from EVER owning a firearm?
I'm not sure it's even worth responding to butane, but this is not an anti-gun story. If anything, it's a story of a law keeping a gun out of the hands of someone who is mentally unstable. I'm a gun owner and I support that.

What a winner. Two warrants in GA, Domestic violence issues at UCONN. Trying to buy weapons.
And who said he was an "Olympic Hopeful". Sounds more like a "wanna-be" member of track that had "intentions" of trying out. Who has ever heard of this loser before?
Thank god they caught him. Maybe he should relocate to the North End?

Help me out here; this moron has two outstanding warrants from Georgia, fails to appear in one of the cases in March. Then purchases a firearm. Last year, a protective order is taken out due to a on- campus serious assault. First thing, why can't police locate him, arrest, and jail him on the failure to appear charge ( a google search would locate him at UCONN rather quickly). Two, how the heck can he buy a firearm. Three, why would UConn not suspend/expel him from school (sadly we know the answer to that; THE BOY HAS HOPS). Finally, he is involved with drugs, and has been acting erratically for a period of months. It is appalling to think it took so long to arrest him. UConn literally "bit the bullet" on this one! One last thing that irks me, a fifth year senior, and he is having problems with an INCOMPLETE grade required for graduation - says quite a bit about our flagship state institution of higher ed's academic rigor!
