"Voices and other groups are pushing for budget reform and priorities based on data from research that shows investing in early childhood education and after-school programs makes good fiscal sense. Every $1 invested in early childhood education nets a $16 return, Ryg said. Every $1 invested in after-school programs returns $7."

A child's education cannot be put off until the economy improves.
