They also list John Wayne which died because of a movie in an area where they did atomic bomb testing. Most of the cast died because of it. Susan Hayward also died because of it. Frank Sinatra died of a heart attack at 83. Old age. They will use any thing to make money.
Jerry Reed will be missed.

I've watched all the Smokey and the Bandit movies. We all loved Jerry Reed down here in our little neighborhood. If you ever catch yourself coming down to south Louisiana you might just hear Good Ole' Jerry's songs playing.

Unless you repent you will all likewise perish. Were all going to die one day,the question is is where you spend eternity. What you do on earth matters forever. Jesus said be holy for I Am holy.

No, while you are right that Desi Arnaz died from lung cancer, Lucille Ball did not. She died from an dissecting aortic aneurysm (a condition associated with heavy smoking and high blood pressure.)

Tell that to George Burns.

You might also wish to take your hate up with Mark Twain.

Do you really think you are something new?

The Moral Statistician

Originally published in Sketches, Old and New, 1893

I don't want any of your statistics; I took your whole batch and lit my pipe with it.

I hate your kind of people. You are always ciphering out how much a man's health is injured, and how much his intellect is impaired, and how many pitiful dollars and cents he wastes in the course of ninety-two years' indulgence in the fatal practice of smoking; and in the equally fatal practice of drinking coffee; and in playing billiards occasionally; and in taking a glass of wine at dinner, etc. etc.

And you are always figuring out how many women have been burned to death because of the dangerous fashion of wearing expansive hoops, etc. etc. You never see more than one side of the question...

Now you know all these things yourself, don't you? Very well, then, what is the use of your stringing out your miserable lives to a lean and withered old age?

What is the use of your saving money that is so utterly worthless to you?

In a word, why don't you go off somewhere and die, and not be always trying to seduce people into becoming as ornery and unlovable as you are yourselves, by your villainous "moral statistics"?

Now, I don't approve of dissipation, and I don't indulge in it either; but I haven't a particle of confidence in a man who has no redeeming petty vices. And so I don't want to hear from you any more.

I think you are the very same man who read me a long lecture last week about the degrading vice of smoking cigars, and then came back, in my absence, with your reprehensible fire-proof gloves on, and carried off my beautiful parlor stove.

Those who forget the past will repeat it. Those who deny the past should be feared.

Actually smoking reduces high blood pressure if you look at the real facts and not the what the drug companies tell you.

I guess every one that smokes and hasen't quit is sort of sensitive about what they know is just a dumb thing to do. If Jerry haden't smoked he would still be writing and playing. He did leave us with a treasure of great fingerstyle guitar tunes. Thanks Jerry and screw RJ Reynolds

Jim Fixx as i am sure you know smoked 2 packs a day and whieghed 240 before taking up smoking at 35 or 36 and his father died of a heart attack at 43. Fix had hardening of the arteries, but running probably prolonged his life by 10 years and is proven to improve ones health. Howver, running alone is not enough to safe guard one from heart disease but combined with a healthy diet.

One of the few Chet Atkins dubbed a "Certified Guitar Player".

Look for "The Claw" or maybe "Jerry's Breakdown" on Youtube. Or track down a video of Chet and Jerry playing at the "Bitter End".

Maybe you'd appreciate "Lord, Mr. Ford".

He should have "picked" a different habit. First he stunk like hell then he went there. A gateway grug.
