Let them be free! Get their own school system, contract with the Sheriff's dept. instead of sucking our taxpayer dollars for LAPD dry, everything! Just make sure they adhere to the rules of a separate city and pay for their own services/ resources from thier OWN revenues, stop the socialist redistribution of sucking the rest of us dry.
IF they have their own school system outside LAUSD, they can have all the Semillas del Pueblo MEChA programs they want. They can learn Mandarin without ever learning English or math or American history. They can have THEIR OWN HEALTHCARE SYSTEMS, ALL BENEFITS APART FROM L A CITY.
And if, like West Hollywood, Culver City etc. they come up with their ow resttricions against L A residents using their public services and parks, we MUSSSSST do the same. This is great -- let them experience the great benefits of NOT HAVING THE REST OF US TO SUCK DRY FINANCIALLY AND SOCIALLY.

Ha! Don't make me laugh. The San Fernando Valley is the ATM for both the city and the county.
Good luck breaking free of the county's claws. We're tried unsuccessfully to get out from under L.A. City's tyrannical, corrupt rule. But good luck to you, you're going to need it.

Let them free. The Sheriff hugging billionares at parties has no care for the day to day struggles of the people of East La. A small city could only benefit the residents. Los Angeles is becoming a voracious consumer of the resources of the citizens without acountability.

Im torn between this..1 The valley lost their bid a few years back because we lost everywhere except for the valley..2 I would love not to be associated with East Los Angeles..Why should we vote for theirs when they didnt vote for ours?? For them to say that East LA is the ATM of LA??!! Give me a break EVERY BODY KNOWS THE VALLEY IS THE BACKBONE OF LA!!!! Thats why they didnt want to let us go...

The Valley must renew its seccession effort before it becomes East L.A. The law should be changed to allow the residents of the Valley to make this choice and not be held back by the freeloaders in South Central and East L.A. who bleed city services dry while giving little in return.

Sounds like a good time to bring up the Valley secession again. Put them BOTH on the ballot and they will have a chance. Otherwise as a Valley resident, I'll vote NO! As much as I'd like to be rid of them, they voted against us, we should vote against them. Keep them in L.A. and make them suffer like the rest of us.

Wasn't the Valley trying to secede from the City of LA? Isn't that a lot different than incorporating an unincorporated area?
I say let them seceed from the US too and let Mexico pay for all their illegals on welfare!
|
|
deport illegals
|
I know, go into East LA with ICE in tow, and start checking ID's. Then, when 50 to 90 percent of the illegal aliens are deported, it won't look like a third world dump.

Incompetent City: You're arguing with me over something I did NOT say. I'm not talking about the Chinese, but about Latino immigrant kids at schools like Semillas del Pueblo who are learning Mandarin, being sent to China, and having teachers from China come here to teach them Mandarin.(Some of these Chinese teachers have been quoted in the L A Times re: what a waste of time this is, when these kids not only are too uneducated to learn but don't know HOW to learn: they talk and put makeup on in class, show no mastery of Mandarin.) This, when they can't and don't even want to learn English and are among the very poorest-performing schools in LAUSD because their teachers and parents dismiss "anglo-centric" curricula, in favor of Mayan astronomy and Aztec dancing. However, our kids who would benefit are NOT given this chance, because due to some insane reasoning, the Latino politicians have gotten extra money from the district JUST for "minority" kids to learn a "valuable skill." What a huge waste of money, to churn out kids who know nothing of use in the end.
All this is serious -- google Semillas del Pueblo. This is a publicly funded charter school, we're paying for it. If they want to do this nonsense, let them pay for their own school district, is what I said. Just one case where them claiming they are subsidizing the city as a cash-cow is so deluded! If the westside seceded, taking the hillsides with it, it would be the most affluent community in California -- but unfortunately for them, they're too "P C" to fight for this right. So their HOAs and NC's gripe about poor schools and lack of cops and public health facilities, all of which they're paying the large bulk for, but it goes to the "poor" areas like East L A., with their many anchor babies and huge families.

East LA and the San Fernando Valley subsidies central Los Angeles. After all, how much tax income can you receive from welfare queens and drug dealers? Wouldn't be so bad if all the illegals were deported from Los Angeles. Losing 2 or 3 million none tax paying but (free) service using residents might reduce overall expenditures in Los Angeles. The schools would improve since now the majority of students would be ENGLISH speaking!

SKEPTICAL: I'll bet you're a Doug McIntyre, "McIntyre in the Morning" and DN columnist listener.
Everything you said was right on.
As a side note for Incompetent City: When KABC-Radio reporter, Sandy Wells, went to Semillas de Pueblo, having made an appointment first, to interview it's founder and principal, he was turned away at the door, and followed to his car by a student's father who physically attacked Wells with no provocation.
I don't remember the exact outcome of the trial, but the man did not get a severe penalty for assaulting Wells.
The MOST SCANDALOUS thing about it was that the local media did NOT cover it. Can you imagine the yowling that would have gone on if it had been a Daily News, L.A. Times, KCBS, KNBC, KABC, KTLA or KTTV local news reporter who had been attacked?

Best of luck to you East LA. After all, you've been carrying the rest of the city for far too long now. Hahahahahahahahaha. It's hard to imagine that the dumbass that said that even believes it.

The biggest claim to fame of East L A listed here, despite being "one of the oldest immigrant communities in Southern California," is that it "introduced the low-rider car into U. S. pop culture." Wow, with a cultural pedigree like that, HOW could we afford to let them go?
I love the idioto who heads their Residents Association (note, NOT Homeowner association, since not that many own - they just vote for taxes like Janice Hahn's property tax for hug-a-thug progarms)== WE ARE THE ATM FOR ALL OF L A COUNTY. LOL, not only has this dimwitted dude never gone west of Highland but he's never been out of the city at all.
Then our Daily News resident MEChA writer Rachel Uranga, sums up their sentiments nicely by quoting their State Sen. Gloria Romero, saying "It's the birth of a city ...Que viva la independencia del Este de Los Angeles." (This is the same Gloria Romero who narrowly just lost her latest attack on LAPD, to force them to reveal personal info when they're sued by "victims" in the barrios and hoods.)
You can be sure English will NOT be spoken as the lingua france of del Este de los Angeles and there will be NO "anglo" schools allowed like Semillas del Pueblo in reverse: you gonna be learning about all the bad theengs the gringos did to the Mexican pueblos, or else get out of our town because this is Mexico Norte.-- Hasta La Vista, Baby.

No free ELA

Until the "locals" stop their prejudice attitude towards Asians, Blacks, and especially Salvadorenans, ELA must remain what it is; Los Angeles. As a city, the local rsidents have only preserved a community of poverty and ignorance. Time for gentrification in the area. I hope the El Sereno and City terrace areas continue to develope a larger white population. Support ICE! Decimate all barrio gangs.
