Ok so Breaking on todays CNN we will hear about Rep. Barney Frank make the dicion to fight our govt, and ask for the Marijuana laws to be reviewd, and altered to reflect upon what we do know about marijuana and not what we think we know about marijuana. Let scece have a voice, not the scare tactics performed daily by our govt.

What are some of your thoughts? Do you think there are legitament resons to use marijuana, support your answer, but lets please refrain from name calling, and overt lies on the topic.

Chris! Hi darling!

You know my stance on this subject, but I'll post it anyway. ;)

I think it should be legalized for many reasons, medicinal is a big one. Recreational use of mind altering substances has taken place in this country for a long time (alcohol, caffine, sugar to name a few, for those about to bash me) yet a substance that intoxicates no more heavily than alcohol was made illegal based on a bunch of propaganda, but the underlying reasons were corporate greed, and it remains illegal in part by that same greed today.

Pharmecutical companies don't want legalization or they might loose money. Tabacco companies don't want legalization because they will loose money. Plastic companies do not want legalization because they will loose money. Oil companies do not want legalization because they too would loose money.(bio fuels that don't impact the corn market, renewable, grows fast) OH & MOST IMPORTANTLY local, state & federal law enforcement agencies don't want legalization either, they will loose money they don't have to account for.(resale of seized drugs, don't fool yourself people, it happens ALL THE TIME)

Medicinally it benefits me, recreationally I prefer it to alcohol any day of the week.(alcohol does aweful things to people, my ex husband is a great example of a mean drunk) Now not everyone should use marijuanna, just like not everyone should drink alcohol, but let RESPONSIBLE AMERICAN's decide for themselves what substance they want to alter their minds with.

Chris, did you see the recent headlines about perscription drugs being abused more than all other illegal illicit drugs combined? Here check this out, http://homepage.bresnan.net/feeds/Parsers/New...

Very interesting, very very very interesting. I wonder why the pharms want to keep the status quo?*note sarcasm

Well Hello Iggy, I havent been to active on here last couple months, had to fix my puter once, and then these darn tornados got me hopping all over the place, but I started this thread in hopes of getting a bit mor attention here in my town, as it seems everyone is afraid to discuss marijuana at any level.
On the topic here, I have been supporting this legislation, and this would in fat be the one I presented for review several months back, so I am proud to see it finaly gettng the national attention it deserves!

ok so next time I will read all of your comment before I post! oh well shit happens. I di read the article and makes me ponder what drugs one could find in my medicinecabinet, granted, my children are to small to climb up on the toilet at this time, but som day that ill change. With that in mind, one would find a variety of pain killers and muscle relaxers in there. Between my wife and I I know that there is a nice cocktail or two we could brew with it all, and sure know that the kids could too!
We ave a young gil in this town whos life will never be the same because of huffing a can of compressed air, she will never know what a normal 13 yr old is supposed to do anymore, and yet her friend whom she was with suffered no effects outside of the desired high from the same can, purchased at the local Wal-Mart, but yet we will punish an individual for the responsable use of marijuana.
Like I said I have been promoting this bill to everyone,(HR 5843)and am very pleased with the progression of this project, and hope that it passes.
