Can someone please explain why for 6 months or longer there are sewer lines running on top of the streets? Alleys are blocked from access and even some streets. What a horrible eye sore for our community! It seems this city administration is a "band aid" mentality.

As blocked alleys and streets impact on me, I agree that it's a problem that has rumbled on and on. However, I also believe it's possible that the current administration is being left to deal with past neglect (or a "band aid" mentality) demonstrated by previous administrations.
I'd be interested to know if the previous City management ever investigated whether existing water and sewer lines could cope with the building of a new and expanded county jail? Maybe having heavy construction equipment working around the center of the city might have even caused some issues?

I don't think either administration has a say in what the courthouse does since it is county property. Regardless of how the sewer has come to it's demise the issue of getting it resolved is in question.

I'm not saying that the City has a say in what the County does, but the City (and its' resources) don't exist in isolation. It's called PLANNING?
If you don't plan you end up with what we've got now.

Bewildered- I completely agree on planning! The city hopefully is doing just that and looking into a plan to maintain the infrastructure.

I have noticed the city is doing more patch up work on the 100 block in the alley. One lane of traffic is blocked by a huge pile of dirt in front of Smith & Son lumber.
