This was always my fear back when we owned horses. They are so large and so heavy, and they can absolutely demolish a car when struck. I sincerely hope everyone who was injured in this will be okay.

We no longer own horses, but when we did we had trouble with people, mostly kids, opening our gates. Sometimes they just wanted to to cross to the other side becuase they didn't want to go around, but other times the intent was more malicious. I'm not saying that's what happened here, but I'm sure they'll be looking into how these horses got out.

Wow, what are the odds that the news6 photojournalist would be following behind that one car at 4:15am and have his dash cam on when that happened? Crazy.

This is a very sad and tragic story. I hope all involved will be okay. I hope none of the horses had to suffer.

Talk about scary. I know a deer can do some damage so I can't even imagine hitting a horse.

What a bizarre question. Of course it wasn't before the padlock. And we did in fact start wrapping a chain around the posts and gate and locking it, and you know what happened? People who want to cause mischief find ways around it. They cut fences, or they knock down posts. It just got to be too much worry about what some idiot was going to do. We used to even find straight pins stuck in the horses' hides, sick calling cards by the punks who visited during the night.

Horses on the highway or road is a nightmare for every horse owner. As owners of horses we have double securing devices on everyone one of our gates when horses are in that particular pasture. At night we close the main entry gate. Our motto here is check and check again. We look at our fences at least twice a week to make sure everything is in good repair. The only thing that we cannot control is someone who really wants to cause damage and might cut the fence or break the locks thereby letting the horses loose. I feel sorry for everyone involved, the motorist who were hurt, the owner of the horses and the horses themselves.

I know the Oxley ranch is close to that area.
Does anybody know if it was their horses.
They own and race them.

A good pair of bolt cutters can take care of the chain that is padlocked and sometimes the padlock itself.

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Scorpio

Take it slowly today otherwise you'll be almost guaranteed to lose your temper and make yourself very unpopular in the process. If someone is annoying you, you won't need any encouragement to start a row because you're looking for outlets for your current ire and irritation. OK, but do your best to direct your anger at the person who deserves it and not at innocent bystanders.
