I was wondering when someone was going to ask about this light. My buddies and I used to use this as an excuse to take girls parking. I never saw the light, however I dated a girl in High School whose mother swears she saw it and that it chased her car for miles before fading away. It used to be very well know ghost story in the Kinston, N.C area

If you paid the boy enough money he would run for miles with that Kerosene Lantern. Sometimes he was late and sometimes we were late but on the nights when the timing was just right it was all the love and affection one guy could stand. I know that girl's mother ????

I never saw the light, but my parents talked about it all the time when I was a kid back in the 70's, they go and sit and wait for the light to show up when they where dating, I grew up around the Wintergreen area, went to school at Ft.Barnwell elem on Dover road.

I personally have seen the light three times during the early seventies. My friends and I were chased by the light every time. It came on us very fast and followed us extremely close. I saw it as a basketball size ball of fire. Those who think they are strong willed and scared of nothing should venture into the unknown and see for yourself. I promise you if you see it, you will not stick around long.

since the swamp has been drained and the land has been cleared where the light used to be seen, it doesn't show up any more. i saw it twice when i was a teenager in the seventies. i'm pretty sure it was some combination of "swamp" gas and reflection off the highway, but it was eerie as hell.

I saw the light in the late fifties. It was a very dark night and as we watched the light approach I remember hearing my heart beat. It was scarey.
