Conejo woman on life support after crash

I drive the 101 almost every weekend morning between 5 and 6 a.m. to go hiking before sunrise. Too many times I've seen horrific accidents on that same stretch of freeway at that same time of night/morning -- and last weekend at 5:35 a.m. I saw the horrific wreckage that killed Taylor Moss.

Let's remember that driving is a privilege and not a right -- people who drink and drive and kill other people should lose ALL privileges. Immediately. Murderers are not permitted back on the street when arrested, and Hector J. Ortiz has no right to freedom after killing Ms. Moss and depriving her of every freedom she will ever know. Mr. Ortiz should remain in custody, without option to post bail, until his permanent punishment can be decided.

MADD, we need to tighten those laws. But in the meantime, as the holiday season fast approaches, let's all take care to designate drivers in advance and, whenever possible, take the keys from those who've had too much to drink.
