I haven't lived in the Van Buren area for over 25 years; but, just what kind of store do you believe would be successful in Van Buren?
If you have ever seen the business at the Dollar General you would know that a Wal-Mart would make tons of money. People need more choices. Piedmont have both of these stores and they both do a great business. We have hardware, lumber, grocery stores, we need another type of dept. store that carries what can't be found elsewhere in town.

That is fine. No one wanted another one anyway. We will do just fine with the Ross's. Or the people that got to the G&W store who is not a family owned store out of VAN BUREN. The dollar store is about the best store and last one we need in Van Buren.
I use to use Ross's store but got tired of rude owners and rude workers. I would chose G&W anyday over them.

There is not a Brown's Pharmacy or Brown's Discount Grocery in Winona. I don't know where you get your facts? Greg and Shannon Brown own
Nu-way Grocery, and it is not a discount grocery store.
I hope we get another drug store maybe some competition would bring down some of the high prices.

the best thing this town could get is a walmart, only a real one with groceries. if it runs the other 2 grocery stores out so be it. if they want to survive theyll lower their prices. wouldnt it be nice not to have to drive 45 miles to a real grocery store or a walmart? as far as lumber home depot is worth the trip anyway. these small town "local" storeowners are ripping you a new hole and you let them. maybe its time to join the rest of the world and let go of your inbred mentalities?

For such a small town I have been pleasantly surprised at the choices and prices at G&W. They have more and more organic choices every time I go in their and coming from a bigger city the prices really aren't that bad. I also like the meat dept. better at G&W than Big Spring Foods.

I wish we had more people here. I just dont feel comfortable without waiting in traffic or in lines to checkout. We hardly ever have any muggings or robberys or anything newsworthy. Its hard to sleep without tires squealing or loud music all night. Everything is so inconvenient, quiet and peaceful, no excitement.

That "Sterling Bank" bought out Black's at the old Smalley's Motel, and putting the new "Sterling Bank there.(next year or two).
It would be nice to have another grocer, MAYBE it would cut prices for the "Local's"! Yah, right!
That just urks me, "Local's" having to pay the same prices for things as the tourist do!
We (VB in general) mostly all work in VB and shop in VB and pay taxes all the time year round.
And the tourist come in grocers raises their prices and we pay for it also.
Something just isn't right somewhere!!!!

They do that at both stores. Both stores also have rotten meat and vegetables on display. We were looking for something to BBQ yesterday and all we could find was green meat. That is just gross. I prefer my vegetables not to have fur on them thank you. I new store would be great, but that is not going to happen. The area by Blacks Station was supposed to have a motel built there. That info came from Don Black. Not sure if it fell through or not.

A Save-A-Lot type of grocery store, or a "box" store like Aldi's would certainly attract business locally and from some surrounding towns. Would bring extra reveue to our town as well. Just a thought.
