riley,
excellent observation. There are those that will always support the city forcing taxation upon the citizens to simply expand the size of our local city government at the cost of the private sector.

There are those out there that just can't compete in the "market place" and therefore resent those that can compete in the market place.

Therefore those that are able but simply don't have the desire to compete in the market place, rely on crony connections.

It certainly isn't what the founders of this great country had in mind.

the founders of this country just wanted government to provide basic services to the people and that included protection from foreign invaders, make laws, provide basic services and not taxpayer funded handouts! at the rate we are going, we will be like greece in just a few years!

I guess another Progress As Promised item could be the intention of a few directors to purchase the high dollar iPads rather than using the paper packets received for director meetings.

Kindle Fires do the same functions but do it at savings of $300 per unit. Just shows, nothing is to good for our directors. Even when the free sack lunch program is increasing in Ft Smith

waste of taxpayer money seems to be on the agenda for the fort smith BOD! "its so easy to spend someone elses money!" elect a new board and get rid of these spenders because it is a disgrace the way that they misuse taxpayer money! don't know for sure but willing to bet that george catsavis voted against this spending!

Funny how you ask a question under one screen name and then turn around and answer it under another screen name. Why not just save yourself the effort and combine your posts under one post. Some sort of split personality disorder? Or perhaps narcissism?

can you imagine fort smith getting 2% of all sales purchases in fort smith and the county getting another 1% of all purchases in the county? thats a lot of money and where is it all going? look at all the taxes on phone bills, elect bills, gas bills, water bills, and one must wonder what in the hel- are they doing with all of our money?

I was all for the statue of "bass" being put at the historic site until I drove by and saw what taxpayers paid 300,000 for! the idea of a statue was a great one but this could have been accomplished for a whole lot less! it looks like the taxpayers paid 300,000 dollars for something that could have been done for 30,000 dollars and where is the statue of judge parker that should have been presented also? it looks like another huge waste of taxpayer money!
