Suicide at Valmeyer High School

Is Valmeyer School really closed today because of a student committing suicide?

Yes, I hate to say but that's true.

The Belleville paper says the boy is hospitalized with self-inflicted gunshot injuries.

thanks for the info on the Belleville paper, I just pulled it up here at work. I have only heard rumors, I live in Valmeyer, but the rumors I have heard today are he did pass away late last night and the other was that he is on life support. I wish I knew the truth. Poor family

i heard from some peope that he actually passed last night, and then today i heard some things from other people that he was in a coma last night after the attempt and he is stable now, and also that he had passed. What really is the truth?

One way or another it's a tragedy. All we can do is pray for the family.

This is a wonderful family! Please pray for them. We may never know "why" something like this happens. There is a special angel in heaven now. God Bless.

just heard on newschannel 4 he was on life support.

I can tell all of you that he passed away today 10-30-2008 around 4:00. The family still has to make the decision about his organs. Please pray for him,his family and our community here in Valmeyer. Thank You

Since he is a minor-this information can only be released by his parents. Sorry but I will not reveal his name. Please let everyone respect their privacy. I know you are concern but just keep praying. Thank You

I feel so bad for all the people who knew him even thought I don't know him I still Send out my prayers to his family and friends. He will be greatly missed in his home and community.

I did know the family and they are wonderful.
I have prayed for them since I found out about this. This was a very smart,curtious,kind,young man that wanted to do his best in life.
All I can say is that if you have kids, Please get off this computer right now and go tell them how much you love them and if they ever have any trouble in their life,no matter how horrible, that they can come to you and do the right thing.

So sorry about the tragedy. Unfortunately, this child had some major issues going on in his brain. To commit suicide, you are a sick person -I'm not being harsh, but the poor child had a mental illness. May he rest in peace.

Does anyone know if the arrangements have been made yet? Any info?

you go- I guess I can try to understand where you were coming from, but really doesn't seem like the right time to be talking about being "a sick person". Who knows what really happened? None of us. Feel bad for whatever he was going through and now his poor family has to deal with this terrible tragedy. Try to be a little more compassionate to his friends and family that could be reading these comments.

My apologies. Just seems that everyone is stating what a perfect family and such a smart, happy, etc boy he was. Seems as though no one knows what goes on behind closed doors. I hope the family works together during these tough times.

I live in Valmeyer,and this kid was a GREAT kid.Nothing was wrong with him. No one knows why. Our town is in shock. The family did donate his organs,so i heard,and he they took him off life support,and he died at about 4:00 yesterday(10-30-08). He was loved by all. May he Rest In Peace.School was canceled on Thursday because a lot of anger was pointed in the wrong direction.

Can you just elaborate a little about the anger part for those of us who are completely in the dark about that?

There was too much mourning,and school would have been one big cry fest...no one knew what to do....actually that's a guess...because i'm not in charge of the school.
