On the bright side, we still have DD's hair extensions and weaves, Jamaals Gangster fashion discounts, and sprinkle in some fade shops and check cashing, its not that bad. Lets not forget Vallejo Inn or the Motel 6, never mind that the cash registers are full of mostly worn out 1 and 5 dolllar bills....

Might be a good idea. The problem is that most comedy shows don't start until 8pm, and this loser is usually falling-down drunk before sunset.

Sorry dirty undies, but you know it's true!

I would rather rent a dollar/day movie at those redbox machines.... Or I can use Netflix!! Blockbuster was overpriced.. I think they were charging 4 bucks per movie. Blockbuster also had ghetto workers.

Sorry (R)etard, not a drinker. However, there have been many times I have been tempted to take a little swig, just to gut through one more day of having to deal with your woman coming around begging for the Vitamin P. This is the problem with you being of ADVANCED age and POOR health. You want these younger women, but you are just not capable of satisfying them. Normally, when I spend a little quality time with a woman, I have to call down to room service for a gallon of Gatorade and a tube of Chapstick. Unfortunately with your woman, I have to call down for Pepto and a barf bag. Really bit 'T', look into that Sweedish P Pump, this will give the shrubs around my house a chance to grow back after your woman trampled them.

HUH? In English please. Let's see if I can deicipher. The laid people off? It is over, fat lady is singing, terrible business model for 2010, great 20 years ago. No one will miss them on Saturday nights. How is this payback? The employees did not close down the store, the corporate location did. I assume you were laid off from BlockBuster? You should go to school.

Video stores period is on its way out and Blockbuster sucks the most. Go next door to raleys and check out the Redbox, a dollar a night for a movie.. can't beat that. automated dvd/movie machines are the wave of the future. blockbuster knows this. even in the article, they stated they want 10,000 of this machines in the U.S. by next year.
This may be true, but with the recent lawsuits filed by redbox...they might not have much to offer. Universal, Disney, Fox, Warner, and Paramount don't want to provide their services upon dvd release to them.. Blockbuster Media is still going strong because they have the biggest studios support. They also provide their services with online rentals which unlike "Netflix" can be exchanged at stores as well as through mail. They also provide on demand and offer their services through Tivo, so you can watch movies at the press of a button on your tv remote. The experience continues, with the current release of their Blockbuster Express boxes which will provide more movies than Redbox for only $1.

so I don't know what you're on, but I see Blockbuster as a good thing....Do your research!

Okay, well my research shows that the nearest Blockbuster Express box is located down in El Cerrito, across the bridge and some miles away. Moreover, both boxes, whether RedBox or Blockbuster, will by design be limited to a few lead titles. In other words, a selection that's very thin indeed. With Netflix, I can choose from a very large selection from home, using a search engine that narrows my choices. Then, I don't have to spend fuel, time or bridge tolls to get the movie. It just arrives in a couple of days! But the best part? NO late fees. Wow. Sometimes a new business model emerges from technology, and this is one.

Again, they offer movie rentals on demand and through mail at Blockbuster.com .... and unlike Netflix, you can return them to the store if you don't want to wait for a movie through mail. The ON DEMAND allows you to watch movies online. If you decide to purchase a Tivo, it will allow you to replace your dvr & cablebox which allows ON DEMAND movies on your t.v. as well as watch YOUTUBE videos and shows. I use to have Netflix, but I felt it had it's limitations.

As far as the Blockbuster stores and their kiosks boxes... It is true that the company is phasing out many of their stores and placing Blockbuster Express kiosks in their areas.. This is a process that is still in effect. It is unfortunate that they haven't placed one in your area, but eventually it'll hit as many areas as redbox. Blockbuster has the resources to make this happen.

I can only speak for myself when I say that I'm much happier continuing my business with Blockbuster. I rent online, watch movies online, exchange my movies at their stores when I want, I go to their kiosk to rent., and am planning on getting a Tivo after Thanksgiving. You can keep Netflix, I can't rent exclusive films Blockbuster has anyways.

Blockbuster is closing up shop all over the country, it's not just Vallejo. As others have said, vidoes are all but obsolete now due to the convenience and ease of mail-order and downloadable movies.

If you really want to support your community, shop at a local video store. Meadows Video has a huge selection and seems like a nice enough place! They've been around for years and have sustained through this horrible economy. We don't need Blockbuster - we need to be supporting our local businesses!
