My major complaint is that new customers get enticed to sign up with good deals for a year. As a long time customer, I do not get any of the good deals. I would be better off to switch to dish and I am thinking about doing that now that we can get local channels. I pay $86.14 and there is nothing on the basic cable. All those channels and there is noting good to watch.
Their customer service is non-existent. Whatever happened to Southern hospitality, I guess it doesn't count when you have a monopoly!

I've had them for a total of 4 weeks. If you have moved from ANY other cable/satellite tv provider, you will hate the channel selection this company has. The internet speed is VERY weak, and I'm paying $60 a month for internet thru them on top of the $80 a month for crappy cable with no selections and 8 HD channels (and they are not the HD channels you want). I can care less about the local channels.

For 10-15 buck more, I just moved over to DirecTV and have an HD DVR, 3 additional HD receivers and their second best package for $67 a month. I also have Excede Satellite internet (not the best because of the bandwidth cap but doable), for $80 a month with a download speed average from 8-23mbs.

We couldn't get DSL because of the tigh hold CTVEA has on Pjenix City. There ARE alternatives poeple, don't let this company take you money.
Regaurdless of what other posts have said, you can get better service from other companies (read the paragrapgh above).

Oh, and I can confirm that they WILL wait until the 15th day to disconnect your service after you drop off thier equipment, just so they can get 15 more days of billing you!

I am new to Phenix City and absolutely appalled by the cable services available and the quality of the service. The reliability of the internet connection is horrible. I didn't even want cable, but have no choice. On top of it all, the local commercials have volumes that far exceed to volume of the program being watched (hope they have a plan to be in compliance with the FCC regulation on this come 13 Dec 12). The quality of the picture is awful and the cable cannot even support on demand programing, but they will charge you for it. I had to fight for weeks to remove a charge for a movie I could never get to stream on demand. As for the person who asks what Dish does for the local community. I don't care what they do for the community. I care about the service that I am paying CTVEA to provide. Take the money you are spending to support these "events" and put it back into your business and upgrade your infrastructure to justify the cost you impose on your customers. In the end, horrible customer service, the worst cable I've had since the 1980s, and internet that is about as reliable as dial up from the early 90s. I am actually writing this using my parent's DSL since my cable once again is non functional. This is not a computer issue since I am able to connect everywhere except my home. I would use DSL, but it is not available in my area. Will be looking into satellite internet since it can't be worse than CTVEA.

Wow, I'm sure that if you explain the problems you're having they'll straighten them out for you, Cable TV of East Alabama are nice, if overworked, folks.

Wow I guess I opened up a can of worms here. I would like to get a following and start putting pressure on these people. I am going start a cause on facebook and see how much support we can get. Sounds like the City is blocking us from getting some competition in the market and some other options.

Okay so I signed into my CTEVA account which the morons at tech support said I could view my bandwith usage. It only tells me "view usage unavailable" So how am I going to check how much of that 75 gig i used. I think a class action suit needs to be filed. Comcast tried this same thing with a 250 gig cap which at least is more reasonable than 75 gig. They where forced to suspend there cap due to litigation and lawsuits. Something needs to be done here and we must take action. I will not sit on my rear and let these crooks rob us. The fact I cannot view my usage concerns me greatly. Just another device to get more money out of us and keep us in the dark. Digital media is the future. I purchase all software and games with online services that store it on the cloud. This way I can easily re download onto a new pc and never worry about the disk or cd. We use Amazon prime to stream video and hulu plus and netflix. The cable company does not want us doing this, they want us to stay on there subscription and regulate what we do. The stupid tech said my contract was for residential service only when I mentioned media downloads and cloud downloads. So what they can control what I view and do with my internet service now. You cannot tell me they are in the red here. There are a few people that abuse the system and use too much data with peer to peer systems etc. Well dont apply this to all of us monitor them and throttle them back I will accept that, many companies are already doing this, again I mention comcast the evil giant is in trouble all the time trying to find new ways to screw the customer. Funniest thing is I bought this house from Mr Greene. I never met him just the realtors and agents and did not know he was the owner of CTEVA tell after the fact or I would have never bought from him

I think it was discussed earlie in this thread that Phenix City Cable laid all the cable throughout the East Alabama area many years ago, pioneers in Cable Television, actually, and that it isn't that other cable companies are not /allowed/ to set up their companies in the Phenix City area, but that they don't seem to want to lay out the $$$ to connect in the area... and EACTV isn't planning to willingly share their cables.

Well I have had there crappy service for one week and I am not a power user. I have used 40gb of data already and the cap is 75. Its a buck fifty for every gig after that. I am on par to reach 160 for the month with a overcharge of 127 bucks. So a cable tv and internet bill of 250 bucks there about is fine with everyone. Time warner I paid 99 a month for unlimited cable at a download speed of 30mbps and 2 mbps up and superior cable tv and phone. Now that was a deal in my eyes. This is highway robbery and I am very upset and wont stand for it. My neighbor has ATT broadband but they tell me its not available in the area.This is corruption and robbery as i see it and i will sit in every city council meeting tell there is some improvement and competion.

Good Lord that does seem like too much $$$ to pay... I had no idea costs for Cable in Phenix City had skyrocketed so badly in recent years.
