Criminals that was to take advantage of our depleted resources for public safety should understand that deadly force will be employed by our public safety groups. I hope our police will not be crucified for this event.

You know what TH I hate the fact that you wrote an article titled we are "mum" about the shooting as if we are hiding something?? I saw the press release and if you read it there was plenty of information explaining exactly what happened!! You really feel its right to lead the public to distrust it's police department??? How did you sleep last night?? Just because nobody answered the phone when you call does not mean we were "mum"! Maybe everyone was on the street responding to calls. Why don't you print how we captured a violent rapist right after his attack yesterday or how may shots fired we responded to yesterday or all of the fights we responded to yesterday or the drive by shooting we responded to yesterday!!!!

Scare tactics? So what you are saying is that these events do not really take place......O.K. I will go ahead and hang out in Vallejo with my family, maybe take them to a movie and some ice cream, then we will stroll over to the Barnes and Noble and buy a book, after that we will an early dinner at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. Before going home we will stop off at Trader Joe's and pick up some groceries........Since you want to pretend there is no violent crime, I am going to pretend Vallejo has something to offer other than Ghetto A** people, smoke shops, and crappy service! The reality is that average citizen's are not safe in Vallejo. The odds are that you will not get killed, but sooner or later you will be a victim of something.

Your point is well taken, however, where is the "AVERAGE" person safe anymore? A few years ago, I lived in the Marina District of San Francisco, right next door to the condo owned and occupied by (then) Mayor Frank Jordan...and guess what? my car was stolen...right in front of my house! If you came to visit Vallejo, you could go to the movies, you could go to Coldstone Creamery, you could have stopped by Old Navy and purchased a T-shirt for the troops and have your children sit down with black, hispanic and white children, all writing thank-you notes to the troops, you could have gone to Chevy's for dinner...and finally you could have taken picnic blankets and spread them out on the lawn in front of McDonalds to watch the fireworks display from Discovery Kingdom. Yes we do have citizens that don't seem to understand right from wrong, who don't seem to realize that the only way Mac Dre made any success in his life was to get away from the friends he had made here in Vallejo. But we also have many, many hard working citizens who support our police department, who grow vegetables in their backyard, who attend church on Sunday, who barbecue on the weekends and fill the kids wading pool on a hot Saturday afternoon, and share a beer with the neighbors. I'd say a substantial portion of the population of Vallejo couldn't afford dinner for the family at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse...but that doesn't mean we should all be lumped in together with the criminal population either.

Is this Mac Dre Day on the calendar cuz I can't find it. Now I know where those 40 shell casings came from the other night, like a 20gun salute they gave Mac a 40gun salute for his B-day,that answers that I think. But with Mac not on the calendar yet all these young kids celebrating I thought he must be more popular than Martin Luther King, or must of done more for there future and wellbeing. I guess I am wrong because I don't remember the younger kids celebrating Kings birthday at the park, as the older generation did. Guess Mac Dre was a heck of a guy huh?

This local paper is organized in such a way that most stories seem to emphasize crimes which have a racial componant or are critical to our police force. As bluebird mentioned above, there is no story about police services capturing a machete-wielding rapist yesterday near Wilson Way walking path. The cars were there withing minutes of the report and caught the rapist shortly thereafter. This superb police action is typical of everyday events which the TH neglects to report simply because the editor has an agenda against Public Safety personal. The "reporters" are almost entirely comprised of left-leaning clones who often either don't understand the situation or are so biased that they do not see nor "report" the facts acurately. It's too bad because Vallejoans who read the paper know this prejudice exists and look at the articles with a cynical eye, never trusting that the reports are true and acurate.
On another note; be careful when jogging or walking alone along the Wilson Way river path, even in the broad of day. There are junkies, nut-cases, robbers and the general "homeless" riff-raff still occupying the area.

It's one thing for the police to be "mum" on the this shooting - but what about the TH sending a reporter out to talk to people in the community to actually find out what happened? There are people in the area who actually saw what happened. I'm hearing all kinds of rumors - including that one of the young people who was shot, died. C'mon TH - stop relying on the police for your information. Report the news!
