Let's see those solutions

An open letter to the mayor and city council:

Last November we had a mayoral and council election, following a series of forums that discussed the same four important issues:

* What are you going to do about stabilization of the government?
* What are you going to do about Mare Island?
* What are you going to do about the downtown?
* What are you going to do about the Vallejo public schools?

All of the candidates had an opinion on each of these issues.

The election was almost a year ago and since we all seemed to agree that these are the problems that have to be solved, I think it is time for each of the successful candidates to let the public know what you have done or are doing to advance these four critical issues.

I know that some of you have been working on some items, but I am pretty much in the dark -- as I believe is the rest of the public -- as to what you are doing. I don't know whether to praise or criticize, but would encourage you to provide some information for the public.

So, Mr. Davis, Ms. Hannigan, Mr. McConnell and Mr. Sampayan, please figure out a way to let the public know what you personally are doing to advance these four issues.

For Vallejo to be all it can be, those four problems have to be solved. How are we doing?

As long as Gomes and Brown are on the council nothing will be done. These people do not get along and will never come to any agreement on these issues.

Jim, I'd like to see a public discussion on the direction of VCUSD with council members and school board members. The district is going down a new path with "Social Justice" as a focal point. My opinion of this general direction is not favorable. I'd like this to be discussed among the leadership in Vallejo.

One would think that the basics, learning how to read, how to write, and learn math skills would be a better track then the PC track disired by the liberal doctrine currently in favor. Check out the jobs market and you will find that liberal arts majors are out of work at a rate of 40% vs. anybody that took the hard classes, do the math !
