Part of the influx of gangbangers into Santa Clarita. Why is this an increasing problem?
The mortgage meltdown causes people to move and rent out their homes to ANYONE with the cash. As many as 30 people will pack into a home for rent, they do illegal garage conversions
and soon you have problems. Gangs move in, their homies drinking 40s, their MCAs ready to shoot, stab, set fires, eveything. Where are the police? They are often friends with the gangbangers. The solution is a Private Police Force and strict enforcement of housing and building code laws. Keep the SCV as EXPENSIVE as possible and keep these losers out.

I totally agree with you on hiring private security services. I don't think you can actually hire "private" police officers because they all work for the city; but we should definitely hire private patrol and security companies! They are allowed to carry weapons, but not to arrest. They can detain criminals until police arrive.
The problem today, as with everything else, is finding HONEST law enforcers! As long as you don't hire Mexicans...I think it would work!

Why haven't we disposed/destroyed these mexican immigrants? They're gangmembers, highschool dropouts, drunks, drug dealers/addicts,and vandals. This isn't a stereotype people it's based on reality. When will a president see this as a national security problem? Lets go to war with these scum buckets! They suck the system dry with nothing in return for this country.

I certainly don't like what's happening to our country with illegal immigration, but what does this have to do with Mr. Lombardi's murder? We don't know anything except for the reports in the news and how people jump to conclusions makes themselves look ignorant. Why not make comments like god bless or something more compassionate to the family or friends who lost a valued individual? The demographic of SCV have certainly changed over the years, but overall, we have a pretty nice growing City. My son was robber by blacks in Newhall, but my son still associates with his friends who happen to be black. It's the person, not the color of their skin who commits the crimes. When the LASD captures the responsible person, only then will we know the real details. Until then, blaming illegal’s or other minorities is absolutely uncouth.

To Mr. Lombardi's family and friends,

God Bless and I'll say a prayer for the love ones. I support John McCain since he'll never say things like "The person who committed this crime must not have been hugged enough by his mother" or some other sympathy for the criminal while forgetting about the victim. Now that's uncouth!

Stuff like this (in addition to ridiculous housing costs and exorbitant taxes) is why I left SoCal after growing up and living there for 30+ years. This is but a portent of things to come for that area, an isolated stabbing like a drop of water before the rush of water comes several years down the road with all the touchy-feelies in CA making excuses for people who commit these crimes.

In viewing one of the photos, it is possible that this is one of the people that I worked for some years back, and if so, then I pray for the entire Lombardi family - D., T., A., (initials only to protect their identities)

Arthur, by looking at the initials you left of his siblings I can tell that it is the same family you worked for many years ago. Yes indeed a shock to us all. I hope they catch this person or people.

You do have the correct family as you have just identified the 3 brothers initials. I received the call last night with the news. Shocking!

Does anyone know for a fact that a Mexican or Gang banger commited this crime? Why was it not a black, or a white person? Could this have been a personal motive? It seems like any crime committed, conclusions are always jumped to that it was a "Mexican" that did it. The judgment is usually based on the last name. I am of Mexican decent but 4-generations are born and raised in California and far from being illegal immigrants. Just becuase your last name is "O'Reilly" is any one screaming of a bar stool drunk that needs to go back to Ireland? I understand there is a serious gang problem is Califoria but there are also the other races killing, robbing and doing other criminal acts to support Meth addictions as well as others. It is just easier to blame the Mexicans and even without facts.

Unfortunately, your observations are correct..."it's easier to blame the Mexicans...even without facts"!

And, unfortunately, you and your family of four generations are having to suffer because of the situation. All Mexicans, legal or illegal, are being lumped into one big pot because of the HUGE increase in illegal immigration from Mexico and Central America.(By the way, most Americans can't tell the difference between a Mexican and a Salvadoran).

I am a native Angeleno and have been here for 6 decades. I have watched the influx of an entirely different class of Mexicans coming into this country illegally, and I don't like what I'm seeing!!!

The "new breed" of Mexican and Central Americans are NOT simpatico...as in the days past; they are coming here DEMANDING to be taken care of! They are much more illiterate and third world. But most disturbing is the fact that many of them are VIOLENT criminal types who come here to pillage and plunder. They are mostly young...under age 25, and the first thing they do is join a gang!!! Half of the gangbangers in LA are ILLEGAL ALIENS!!!

I can tell you one thing, I NEVER hire a Mexican anymore unless it's someone I have known for years. Most Americans feel the same way...it's not worth risking your life on someone you know nothing about!

You are in denial if you can't look at the facts - MOST crimes in the LA area ARE committed by Mexicans (legal and illegal)! It's a fact of life. I'm sorry that you and other generational Mexican-Americans have to suffer for the sins of your fellow Mexicans, but that's the way it is.

Change will only come if you and your fellow Mexican-Americans join the fight to deport illegal aliens. They are destroying the country and EVERYONE, including yourself, will pay the price. Think about it!

I do not disagree with the points of the influx of illegal immigrants. I am not in denial and trust me I have been called a sell out by my fellow Mexicans. The point to my comment was that everyone jumps to conclusions without facts. I know there are high crime rates with Mexicans, as with Blacks and you have the whites doing more of ther crimes related to financial matters that affect the tax-payers as well. I am all for deporting illegal immigrants because there are ways for them to be here legally if they choose to do it the right way. I in no way support working for cash under the table and sending the money home to Mexico. I work and I pay taxes and so should everyone else if they choose to live is US. It is us taxpayers who are typically declined any government service because we have jobs, and homes and must not need any help. The problem is we provide so much assistance to the illegals that they see US as a gravy train and come one come all. It is the same with Americans on welfare, it becomes easier to sit on your ass and get welfare, food stamps, housing assistance, WIC and free Medicare without ever paying any taxes. While those taxpayers who put the money in the pot to be sucked dry by others get none of these benefits because "we have a job". The US makes it appealing and simplified to milk the system and change is needed with these policies. I am not for the Mexicans and I am not against them. I am for what is right, and for those to choose to do the right thing.

You hit the nail right on the head. In a nutshell, I'm a 44 year old single mother who has worked since I was 15 years old. Two years ago, I was diagnoised with cancer, I lost my job (was put on perm disability)and health insurance, used all my savings on COBRA coverage and now, I cant even get $20.00 worth of frickin' food stamps, or medicare because my last name is NOT Garcia! I've paid into the system for more than half my life and cant get one bit of assistance to help me live! Yet the illegals get it all.....makes me sick!

The crime against this man is horrifying and hits a little to close to home. What is even more surprising is the amount of sheriff's I see on the road at any given time...you'd think SCV would be virtually crime/gang free.....
