Didn't the Russians rape & pilage the Aleuts
decimate the wildlife to near extinction,
took away there tradition & replaced it
a phoney religion that has no place in the society?
I realize the priests had sympathy helped them
while the colonials expanded there foothold in Alaska but RELIGION is and will always be the root
of true evil, ONWARD CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS !!!!!!

Actually, When the USA took over Alaska, Protestant groups tried to convert the various native groups by force and coersion using dirty tactics which did't work. Today the different Alaskan native groups are still very Orthodox and strongly protect their identity with it. This has always been the way that the One true church has been succesful which also is the true meaning of the word "Catholic". The Italian church,"Roman Catholic", is anything BUT Catholic. It just hi-jacked the word to their own warped means. The True name of Christ's Church here on Earth has always been "The One Holy Catholic Apostolic Church" since the days of the Apostles. That successor is the Orthodox Church which is all over the world now. For Further reading backing up my oppinions here , please see Father Michael Oleksa's book "Orthodox Alaska a Theology of Mission". He has been a Priest in Alaska for a long time and is well respected by the natives.
The testimony of Alaskan Orthodoxy is one of the greatest mission stories in the world and as an American of Russian descent ,I am very proud of Our Brethren in Alaska who continue with the struggle of True Christian Faith in a land,{USA}, where Orthodox Christianity is very un-popular and attacked verbally,at the least,by whacko evangelical and Roman Catholic groups.

You jump at the chance of some harmless escapism today, and it will do you good provided that you're ready to return to reality again tomorrow. Nevertheless, you shouldn't make any important emotional or financial decisions right now because you may not be viewing the situation in its true light and could easily be influenced by wishful thinking or unrealistic ideals.
