Here's the link to a front page article in today's Daily Republic:

http://www.dailyrepublic.com/story.php...

Julie Davis, Vaca Pena teacher, was assaulted by a student in a classroom and her arm was badly broken. The kid got only a few day's suspension and the teacher got nothing from the school district in terms of help... she even had a hard time getting anyone to call an ambulance.

Julie Davis is one of the best teachers my kids ever had, and I am REALLY angry that she has been treated this way. She should sue.

It's ironic that this story isn't even on the Reporter's website. Way to be consistently tardy, Reporter.
What's REALLY sad is that this punk kid is only 13 or 14 years old, and he is assaulting female teachers. This kid has ZERO hope for the future. He will end up in big boy prison by the time he is 18. Congrats to his parents on raising such a FINE young man. I'm sure THEY think he is still a "good kid". I say break HIS arm the same way he broke her arm, then throw him in prison for a few weeks and let HIM be the victim.

Intolerable. An example should be made of this little POS. Try him as an adult and let the public defender try to protect him from assault charges, or maybe even better, attempted murder. Teachers should receive the same protections that any other public servant receives and sentencing for assaulting a teacher on a public school campus should be enhanced, like assaulting a police officer, maybe.

A devil's advocate should ask, did the teacher do anything to provoke the child?

On the other hand, liberal law makers have gone out of their way, through the Persons With Disabilities Act, to make things more difficult for teachers. If there is a kid who has been diagnosed as "severely emotionally handicapped" by a psychiatrist and the parents have made the decision not to place the kid in Special Education, the school is rendered helpless when the kid becomes disruptive. Since the student has been diagnosed with a "disability", he or she cannot be suspended or expelled and the class plus the teacher can only grin and bare it.

Oh, God.... REALLY???? I mean.... REALLY? Yeah, she probably provoked him by giving him an assignment or gave him detention. WTF? Are you (yes, I'll say it) RETARDED? Whatever she did does not warrant a 13 or 14 year old breaking his TEACHER's arm.

I say, somebody should break the kid's mama's arm (daddy is probably MIA) then go smack "iZoroaster" with it.

Grin an bear it, hardly. Maybe you cannot expell him, but you can sue the pants off of the family and
Fess charges for assault and that child will find himself in juvie. The parents should be forced into moving this child into special education. I am sure the parents have always made excuses for this delinquent. He probably does not have medical issues, he just has not had any discipline in his life.

Maybe this is the incident that pushed Superintendent Aycock into wanting to retire.???

Yes, teacher Julie Davis should sue the pants off everybody she can reasonably gain a pocket of dollars from. She should do it to teach everybody involved that they need to make reforms.

A few years ago a male high school teacher put his arms up in front of his face to defend himself from a violent girl student who was attacking him. She claimed he was attacking her. He sat at home on suspension for the rest of the school year. It happened in early December, so it was a long suspension. The girl's parents threatened to sue the school district and that was all it took to kick the teacher out of the classroom. He even had his whole class of students on his side as witnesses.

Stupid school district.

A student doesn't have to be diagnosed as a "severely emotionally handicapped" person. Slow learners who are only slow because they refuse to apply themselves to learn and disrupt classes can also be designated special ed with the all the protections it provides. Many parents opt for this route to insure little Johnny or Janie doesn't get expelled because of behaviour.

Call any school district and ask how much of the budget is spent on special ed. You might be surprised.

You should be thanking us. We finally verbally 'beat' you into learning how to spell SOFA. Now if we can just smack sentence structure into you....... "he going to grow up"???

Yeah, okay. Probably a little harsh. But I'm SOOOO sick of these kids/juvie thugs who actually THINK it's okay to assault someone; let alone an adult.... of authority. Who taught them that crap? Teachers don't get paid enough as it is and I'm not one of those jump-on-the-bandwagon-and-sue kind of people, but in this case? Oh, yeah. She SHOULD sue for an amount that will leave her comfortable enough to 'choose' if she EVER wants to go back to work or not.

That kid needs to be taught right from wrong. Beating an old woman should get you put away until you're an old man. I guess a lot of people don't like this lady:

Heard on the radio (KCBS) today that the new CEO of Media News Group, the company that owns the Vacaville Reporter, wants to charge subscription fees for the online edition of their newspapers.

There goes the Reporter! I could safely speculate that not many people would be willing to pay good money to log on to thereporter.com .
