If you want good fresh seafood, catch it yourself (in non-poluted waters).

I haven't been there in a couple of years, so I hope it's still there and I'm not giving you bad information. It used to be really good and there is a gorgeous view of the Carquinez Straits at night. I always waited for a window table. It sounds nice. Nantucket has great seafood, but is too crowded. Have you ever been to Port Costa? Now there is where you can have a wonderful dinner - seafood or steak. There are two restaurants, one is in an ancient hotel. Very romantic place.

I was there just a couple of weeks ago and it is still real good. I like sitting out on the patio but this time of year it can get a little cold. I haven't been down to Nantucket in a few years because the last couple of times that I was there it was really dirty.

I even read something about that hotel somewhere on the net one time. It's supposed to be famous. I like the bar at Port Costa because dogs are allowed. I saw it featured on that show "Bay Area Backroads," and I think something was said about it being haunted. I just remember the bar itself, beautiful, has some history, and the dining area was candlelit and the food fabulous. Now, the other restaurant had the lobsters in a tank and probably allowed dogs, and the food was good, but it had a more lively, raucous atmosphere, I remember.

HA HA! I only go out for lunch but I have pulled out of Vallejo marina late at night and the lights on the hill look good from down there too.

Just to amend what I posted concerning seafood - if you don't mind cooking it yourself, the Nugget Market has a pretty impressive selection of both fresh fin fish & shell fish.

BannedMan wrote: Where can I get a good bucket of steamers? They used to have great steamed clams at Pacific Fresh in Concord but the place went out of business. It was worth the drive, however. I find it quite sad that here in Vacaville, about 50 miles from the Pacific, a good seafood restaurant is hard to come by. However, in St. Cloud, Minnesota, mid-point across the continent, has several excellent seafood restaurants, only a few which are chain operated such as the Lead Robster & Skipper's Fish 'n Chips. If you look at the meat section of a few grocery stores here in VV, you might be able to find a selection of steamers along with some good looking fresh oysters.
