The U.S. military has largely paid for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan through emergency spending measures, in effect keeping wartime costs off the books. In addition to masking skyrocketing budget growth at the Department of Defense, this process has allowed the services to treat budget supplementals as a piggy bank for new procurement. Members of Congress may have grumbled about poor oversight, but they have largely acquiesced.
Obama’s message? Not anymore.
"That is why this budget looks ahead ten years and accounts for spending that was left out under the old rules – and for the first time, that includes the full cost of fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan," he said. "For seven years, we have been a nation at war. No longer will we hide its price."

Iraq will cost the U.S. at least $3 trillion. Will Americans check their pocketbooks the next time a president tries to sell them on a cheap, glorious war?

OK, how much will the up and comming war in Iran and Liberation of Syria be costing us?

Seems that I remember there being a certain clause in the U.S. Constution that declaring war was the job of the Congress and not the President. Did that clause somehow get deleted or smudged out some how? Last time an official declaration of war came out of Congress around early 1941 against Germany. We haven't done very well on all wars since then.

You piece of unpatriotic crap! You should fall on your knees and thank your maker for President Bush's wars that continue to keep you and your POS family safe.

We fight them over there so we don't have to fight them here at home.

So I guess that you are sugesting that if we were not involved in wars all of our military personnel would simply stay home and not get paid. Guess what Brainiac, even at times when this country was not involved in any wars we were still supporting our military personnel, operating bases, flying planes, bombing stuff for practice, etc. It's called the Department of DEFENSE for a reason.

I guess you tin foil hat transmissions mist be picking up static since now you have to go to salon dot com for your talking points. go ahead and try to sell us some propaganda from moveon dot org too.

So if you all dislike what you heard so much and knew in advance what the tone of the speech was going to be, why did you bother wasting your time watching and listening to it? Jesus, do you all enjoy torturing yourselves?
Get out and do something else.
I agree with you on this Max. That is why I never listened to him, I didn`t want a headache complicated by hearburn.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Aries

It won't be long before you start to feel bored today, unless you can distract yourself - you're switching from one activity to another. Ideally, you should keep yourself amused by doing something that's unusual or challenging, otherwise you'll be tempted to stir up trouble just to see what happens next! Even though you know that's a bad idea, you won't be able to resist, unless you've got something better to do with your time.
