Can people have a little consideration for the family? To lose a husband and two sons at once is so sad. These people are fathers, sons, uncles, grandparents have a little sympathy. RIP Tim

That idiot, Don Shipman, showed no remorse for the family. He needs to be removed from the air. He is unprofessional and ruins every story. I was sickened by his reporting of this story. I feel extremely sorry for the Aceto family. My prayers are with them.

The situation is tragic. I feel for the only son that made it out alive. How shall he go on? This is devastating and I don't even know this poor family. Prayers go out to their families and the one that is still alive. We cannot judge when we are not there and it is extremely sad that a person/s would find humor in innocent deaths. If in fact these buoys are not lit properly and people are endangered up to and including death, then clearly this should become a lawsuit. I hope anyone out there that knows this family can relay to them that they need to file a Notice of Claim against Sylvan Beach within 90 days of this incident.

Sylvan Beach does not own the buoys, N.Y.S. does. Let alone it was a permanent buoy. People need to reduce their speed at night and be aware of their surroundings on the water. The buoy is clearly lit and it was a perfectly clear evening. I will assume the reports will say speed was a factor in this case and other things may come into play. Lakes are extremely dangerous at night and boaters should use their compass to plot their courses. 1 degree off course can change your trip plan for the bad as this one has. These devices are installed on boats for a reason, not just to look at. These objects in the water don't change locations and have been there since the lakes begining. The Coast Guard stresses safter first as any law enforcement does. Unfortunately most boaters ignore this warning. Let this terrible tradgedy be a warning to others, if you don't know the lake stay off it at night. Oneida Lake is a very dangerous lake even during the daytime. A wonderful day/evening on the lake can turn tragic very fast as this trip has.
