Yes they were colonized by many north african groups at one time due to their important trade route access. They were also conquered by the french, german spanish and greeks. I'm Sicilian and Neopolitan but wasn't raised with the real deal italians. Since I was young I noticed an unusual amount of what many people would call sicilian traits. I have known other sicilians and I'd sewar it's something in the blood. Some of us are very likely to have extremely violent episodes, hold lifelong grudges and go absolutely nuclear if someone bothers your family.
We also think 2 wrongs do in fact make a right- if not then 3 will definetely work, and that most of these goldchain wearing oooootica wops are an appellatian joke that get their best lines from the godfather and goodfellas.

Grew up in deerfield. Two families were neighbors and sicilian 2nd generation. Were difficult to get to know at first, but in time great neighbors, honest, hardworking people and good friends. Couldnt be better people.
