I have a funny story about that- A contractor type guy I know "G", and who I believe, claims he was awake at like 1-2am that night and watched CD remove stuff. He went outside again at about 5am and saw the smoke and called 911. He went to the fire up the street and told them what he saw and was turned away! We still laugh about that!

Well I am sure all that will be left will be the cinder blocks for the basement as the Utica Foundation Deliverers are on the scene. You can bet Rusty Brooks will state they faught an "agressive exterior attack" though.

I have a bit of knowledge on this matter and I can tell you that the chances of arson are extremely high. The owners of SprtsPlex have been butting heads for years. They can't get any money out of their investment. I would be very suprised if it wasn't arson. The owners son is super sketchy DA jr that is.

Loved the tv picture of the fire shows front of the building with a big " for sale" sign on it.

Look burning buildings at least gets rid of them. As we well know, in Utica vacant buildings falling down is a major problem. Demolishing city owned properties takes years, and no money is available. The firemen are paid already, so they had to work once. Vacant cleared land is much more pleasing to a developer, so it might sell. Sounds sadly like this is the answer to Urban Development.

And WKTV's story was outstanding this morning. The OD didnt have squat till they all woke up at 9am and put something on their website. WKTV on the other hand Donny S. stated they were "working the phones" for info. WTF?? Go down there and cover the damn fire.

I drove down French Road about 11:30-11:45 last night, and there was a burning rubber smell in the area. Wonder if it was already smoldering. Oh and on a lighter note, did anyone see all the smashed up cars on the arterial this morning. Can't wait for Daytona.
