When the new Library was built, if I remember correctly, the New Hartford Town residents originally voted the proposal to build a new library down. The Library supporters on their own collected the funds required to build a new library and it was built basically without the approval of the town residents. At the time they also promised that there would be no additional costs with this new larger library. Does anyone else remember this???

Yes, in fact a portion of the library is dedicated to Ms. Romano's parents who graciously donated money. This re-chartering proposal was in the works but on the back burner until needed. Now the time has come to bleed the tax payers. The worse thing town residents could do is allow the town itself to realize a savings of $400,000 + That money will never go back to the taxpayers. Instead it will provide additional funding for other pet projects. I'm voting NO!

What's so wonderful about doubling the operating budget and increasing the tax burden on town residents? It's not our responsibility to provide these services to those outside the town who won't be paying for services. The buck has to stop somewhere.

You must not be a homeowner. This is another issue that only homeowners should be allowed to vote on, since it will be out taxes that will be increased.

It's terrifyingly funny watching like two people getting all frothed up about this. It's the same clowns posting over and over.
Put it to a vote. Get the results, and move on for cripe sake.
And get a life. Take up gardening or something. You'll get more satisfaction than bitching about everything that comes out of butler hall.

Proposals like this and the continual increase in taxes is why I plan to move out of New Hartford. I can move to a neighboring town and continue to use New Hartford services (Town park, library, etc.) for free. So why stay???

New Hotford is gowing to becum a gheddo slum! You will have one police officer assigned to each resident regardless of whether or not they pay taxes. The working class majority will just have to suck it up as welfare recipients and elderly folks take over your once beloved community.

For some reason no financial statements for the library have been posted since 2008:

It's obvious that we should expect an illiterate person like yourself would suggest casting such an uniformed vote of "yes." Is it "shout" or "should?" This all demonstrates further proof that your frequent trips to the library and your NHCSD education have been a complete waste of our taxpayer dollars.

Daily Horoscope for May 23

Capricorn

You're keen to look on the bright side of things and to ignore anything unpleasant or worrying. That's fine, provided that you're ready to face up to life's difficulties again tomorrow. But it's not such good news if you persist in looking the other way whenever a problem presents itself, especially if it's connected with your work or health. It may be time to face a few facts, Capricorn.
