I was sold simple guard 3 by my vet and gave it to my small dog. Within an hour he seemed to be acting funny, within 2 hours he was panting and yelping. They told me that he may feel slight discomfort and itchy so I just held him hoping that would keep his mind off of it. He ended up having a seizure in my arms and I thought he was going to die. I quickly gave him 2 washings and a benadryl his symptoms went away. He has problems walking now and tomorrow I am going to seek a refund. Please don't risk your dogs life. I am going back to frontline which he does fine on.

Sounds like you might have overdosed.

Glad your dog is okay now.

It's a preset dose for dogs his weight, I didn't overdose. It's just a bad product. Search online, I'm not the only one that's had issues with it. I wish I did research before trusting the product on my dog.

I applied Simple Guard 3 to my dog and her fur fell out a long the application path. We've spent over $250 in vet bills since application. This stuff is awful.

Any lawyers interested? Same thing happened to my dog, had seizures and her hair fell out. The vet warned me that she may feel uncomfortable for a couple hours after application, so they must know that dogs have reactions. That company should be sued.

Folks, I was one of the earliest clients when this product was new on the market. I found dog, after coming home, having turned the place upside-down (he never touches anything) panting, slobbering and frantic. After several calls and two vet visits and another call and bathing him in dish soap I had to get a cortisone spray and the problem went away 2 weeks after he received his dose. I called the hotline and lit into them the way I did at the vet. I was told it was new and no complaints. This stuff is BAD. Go online there are so many complaints about this stuff. I go herbal now.

I'm so glad I found this! My vet gave my 3.2 lb chi simple gd 3 and lepto vaccine in 1 visit! My poor puppy had a major reaction and I thought it was the lepto but now reading maybe it was the simple gd3! Yikes

Sorry to hear about your bad experiences! I have to say though that I've been using Simple Guard 3 for both my dogs for about a year now and they have never had any problems (they're both tiny too- 12 and 8lbs). My guess is that it's the same as any other medication- some people/dogs can have adverse reactions or allergies to meds that others can take without any problems. That being said, it's always a good idea to test just a tiny bit of a topical product the first time you give it to your dog, just to be sure he/she doesn't have any reactions.

I have used simple guard 3 on my 5 lb yorkie for 3 months. I didn't notice the first time, but the next two times he started twitching. I rinsed him off a quickly as possible and will be going to talk to the vet tomorrow. Thanks for all of the posts

frontline has been around for ages..even so, any dod can have a reaction as humans with meds...apply a small dose and watch dog for any discomforting signs...repeat in small doses.

The problem with Frontline is their formula has lost its patent, others can now use their formula. Word is that they are watering it down now to increase profits. Last year i had a terrible flea infestation and i used frontline every 30 days on both my dogs.

Have you used simple guard? This isn't "normal" reactions. My dog almost died using this stuff.

Aboslutely do not use this stuff! Our poor dog has been washed twice, does not use his rear legs well anymore, hyper, yelping, miserable. Do not use!

PLEASE consider the warnings that have been posted. We tried this product to try and save money from the expense of Frontline. Our dog began to behave very unusually after application. She was frantic, and seemed very agitated by the sensation it caused, particularly at site of application. She rolled and itched and could not seem to find comfort for several days.
After seeing these posts we immediately used a degreasing soap and thoroughly washed her. Hopefully she will feel better soon

IMPORTANT - Please be aware that the local Humane Society will sell you one dose of Flea repellant (Advantage II)for $13 - which is alot cheaper than a visit to your Vet; especially, it you have more than one dog.
