It is obvious that all of the commentors so far did not have the benefit of a teacher like Ms. Smith. If all of your parents had been taught to understand child development and had used proper educational methods to best prepare you for school and life, you would all be commenting like mature and civilized adults instead of ingorant, crass and uncouth social misfits.

Alright, enough already, she's done a good job and that's wonderful but that's what she's supposed to do, paid to do. She did not find a cure for cancer. This whole teacher of the year thing is an example of the ridiculous status that has been given to teachers which they use for their unending drum beating for more money. We have seen the disgusting underbelly of union teachers in WI.

The indignity is that the advent of the political philosophy of Feminism has pretty much destroyed that ol' evil American Family Structure, and along with it the "Early Childhood Education" that was performed in the childs home by "Parents".

Today the Government Education/Indoctrination system that is dominated by Womyn, many with their confused Feminist perspectives, and these defectives are the ones that have replaced the parents role.

Now what do we have?....Young males taking out natural aggression on violent video games, young females acting like sexualy active women, Government Educators blasting parents for not doing thier jobs, and 1/2 of the Amerikan People suckling off the other 1/2, and children raised in institutions while mommy works for MONEY in order to become self realizing.

Thanks Feminists for the destruction of the Family/America.

Yes I do. There are many emasculated males today in Amerika. The use of misandry to make the victims cower is an efective tool. Just as calling someone racist works to make some cower in fear....Political Correctnes.

Maybe if you're parents had participated in ECFE you'd have better spelling skills.

Maybe if your parents hadn't abandoned you to ECFE that whole anal retentive thing as revealed by your criticisim of two words with dropped letters would not be your biggest concern in life.

Since imitation is the highest form of flattery please allow my retort. First, the benefit of Ms. Smith is debatable: I'm a firm supporter in the theory that government has no business in early indoctrination. You admit as mush by your smug shot at parents you apparently don't think are smart enough to be parents? Remember, fooling one: Ghandi and Nelson Mendela were Social Misfits in their day.

That's true. An engineer with vision gets a much higher salary than a teacher. Of course, that engineer can do an aweful lot more than regurgitate someone else's advancement to the field.

Why doesn't Education Minnesota just make homework packets available to all new parents and let them decide? Their attitude that "guns mean crime" is enough for me to flush the package.

Excellent synopsis. I might add that some womyn are advocating that men are not necessary anymore except for hard labor. College statistics are bearing this out.

"Smith sets out to help the parents understand child development and to teach them educational methods to best prepare their students for kindergarten"

All due respect to Ms. Smith....

...but when I was at that grade level, we played outside until school, got our brown bag lunch, went to school, came home and played outside.

Dare I ask what the "value" is of "helping parents understand child development"? What is that, exactly?

And what are these "educational methods to best prepare their students for kindergarten"?

What are we paying for?

Daily Horoscope for June 3

Sagittarius

You're in the mood to spend today, especially on the spur of the moment. Be careful if you can't afford to make any impulse purchases, because a lack of cash won't stop you! If you do decide to splash out on something, you may be disappointed when you get it home and you might even decide to take it back.
