I hope the drunk driving POS gets the book thrown at him. Having said that, why in the &$^% did those adults let that little boy lie down on the seat with no seatbelt??? When my son was little, he always begged me to let him do that on long car trips. I NEVER let him for THIS very reason. He is 14 and he knows better than to even ask me anymore. He knows he must wear his seatbelt no matter what.

The seat belt law has been around since 1980's and I failed to understand why parents failed to comply with the law for the sake of their children's lives as well as themselves. You can even lie down with seat belt on.

The worst part is this idiot will now get away with killing this boy because he didn't have a seatbelt on.

Why the he** didn't they keep his sorry a** in jail until his sentencing date? Drunk driving is about as self-centered as it gets, hope he does some big time for this.
My prayers go out to the family of the little boy whose life was stolen by the bottle...too sad and continuing to happen every day.

Lots and lots of blame to go around in this tragedy; as others have said, why was that child not in a seatbelt? It's possible he might have survived the crash if he'd been belted in. As for the driver, I hope he gets charged with the maximum penalty possible. We all know driving drunk is wrong, stupid, and against the law!(please, nobody say "he's only 22 and made a mistake;" a mistake is locking your keys in the car, not driving DUI and killing a child)

According to the article, the kid-killer was only charged with DUI. Vehicular manslaughter charges are in order here but looks like the cops are gonna call it another "tragic accident" and let the killer off with a fine. Amazing how all this "save the children" talk goes out the window when it comes to reckless driving. Americans love to drive fast and drunk and run red lights and drive while on a cell phone or while eating a hamburger and if a kid gets killed it's just "hey dood - it was an accident".

Why would the Prince William County Magistrate's Office release a DUI Murderer on a summons to return to court?

I probably shouldn't be laughing but that "hey dood - it was an accident" comment had me in tears. I feel sad for the family but seat belts save lives especially in accident involving children.

I was told by a reliable source that Aaron was arrested again today for the death of the boy. This is also Aarons 2nd DUI. I hope he gets the max penalty as well, he should have learned the first go around, did it have to take killing a child to learn?

Everyone suffers, but there is a family without a child, they will suffer forever!

It was his second DUI, and although I happen to know his family really well, I still think that he should go to jail! Sure, the kid didn't have a seatbelt on, and that's his parents fault, but that doesn't mean that he should get off just because the kid might have lived if he had had a seatbelt on.

The parents have to live with that thought too.

It's possible that the boy unhooked the seatbelt while he was sleeping. My kids used to try to do this because they were uncomfortable. From the accounts I've heard, anyone in the backseat of that van would not have survived even with a seatbelt. Involuntary manslaughter??Seems to me he voluntarily got in the truck.
