A final reading on consumer sentiment for the month of May checked in at 79.3, higher than both a preliminary reading and estimate of 77.8, according to a survey by Thomson Reuters and the University of Michigan.

The reading was the highest since October 2007.

Although there was a big stimulus bill under Obama, federal spending is rising at the slowest pace since Dwight Eisenhower brought the Korean War to an end in the 1950s.
Even hapless Herbert Hoover managed to increase spending more than Obama has.
Here are the facts, according to the official government statistics:
• In the 2009 fiscal year — the last of George W. Bush’s presidency — federal spending rose by 17.9% from $2.98 trillion to $3.52 trillion. Check the official numbers at the Office of Management and Budget.
• In fiscal 2010 — the first budget under Obama — spending fell 1.8% to $3.46 trillion.
• In fiscal 2011, spending rose 4.3% to $3.60 trillion.
• In fiscal 2012, spending is set to rise 0.7% to $3.63 trillion, according to the Congressional Budget Office’s estimate of the budget that was agreed to last August.
• Finally in fiscal 2013 — the final budget of Obama’s term — spending is scheduled to fall 1.3% to $3.58 trillion.
Over Obama’s four budget years, federal spending is on track to rise from $3.52 trillion to $3.58 trillion, an annualized increase of just 0.4%.
There has been no huge increase in spending under the current president, despite what you hear.
Why do people think Obama has spent like a drunken sailor? It’s in part because of a fundamental misunderstanding of the federal budget.

Mitt Romney is either an idiot or a Liar.

In response to ads show how Romney destroyed jobs, Romney said this: "The president's experience has been exclusively in politics and as a community organizer."

Either Romney is too stupid to have studied his opponent's history or is a blatant liar.

Obama worked as a lawyer & a Law Professor between Harvard Law& Running for the IL Senate.

Yesterday President Obama flat out lied about his spending.
“Since I’ve been president, federal spending has risen at the lowest pace in nearly 60 years,” Obama saidat a campaign event in Denver, Colorado.
“Yes, we’re going to streamline government,” Obama said.“There’s more waste to be cut.”
You people that voted for this clown and still slobber over him have to be insane!

Last week 28-year-old,$17 billion–rich, jeans-clad Mark Zuckerberg took Wall Street for a multibillion-dollar ride, making his original buddies instant billionaires and his loyal larger circle millionaires.

Note that there is no Occupy Wall Street protest at Facebook headquarters.

Just as there are none at Oprah’s house or the residence of Leonardo DiCaprio, despite their take each year of between $50 and $100 million.

No one has suggested that Hollywood lower movie-ticket prices by asking Johnny Depp or Jennifer Lopez to walk away with $10 or $20 million less a year.

Steve Jobs found ways to dodge taxes comparable to those deployed by any Wall Street fatcat, but he was iPad cool, and so his iPhone billions were exempt from the Occupy nonsense.

Cool capitalists are immune from the neo-Marxist critique of capitalism — a racket that $40 billion–rich Warren Buffett learned late in life, but well enough, with the “Buffett Rule.”

We simply don’t mind that Google and Amazon rake in billions, but we despise Exxon and Archer Daniels Midland for doing the same.

It is not that we need social networking and Internet searches more than food and fuel, but rather that we have the impression that cool zillionaires in flipflops are good while uncool ones in wingtips are quite bad.

Senior attorneys at the small firm where he worked say he was a strong writer and researcher, but was involved in relatively few cases -- about 30 -- and spent only four years as a full-time lawyer before entering politics.

Obama arrived in Chicago in 1993 with a degree from Harvard Law School and was hired as a junior lawyer at the firm then known as Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Gallard.

He helped represent clients in civil and voting rights matters and wrongful firings, argued a case before a federal appellate court, and took the lead in writing a suit to expand voter registration.

But the firm also handled routine legal matters and real estate.

Obama spent about 70% of his time on voting rights, civil rights and employment, generally as a junior associate.

The rest of his time was spent on matters related to real estate transactions, filing incorporation papers and defending clients against minor lawsuits.

In one instance, Obama defended a nonprofit corporation that owns low-income housing projects against a lawsuit in which a man alleged that he slipped and fell because of poor maintenance.

Obama got the suit dismissed.

In another case, Obama appeared on behalf of a nonprofit corporation that provided healthcare for poor people.

A woman who claimed income of less than $8,000 a year had sued Obama's client to obtain a $336 payment for baby-sitting services;

Obama's client paid up, and the case was settled.

In 1994, Obama appeared in Cook County court on behalf of Woodlawn Preservation & Investment Corp., defending it against a suit by the city, which alleged that the company failed to provide heat for low-income tenants on the South Side during the winter.

Those were not the cases Obama highlighted in the self-portrait drawn in his first memoir, "Dreams From My Father."

"In my legal practice," he wrote, "I work mostly with churches and community groups, men and women who quietly build grocery stores and health clinics in the inner city, and housing for the poor."

Budget Office:

Obama's Stimulus Failed on Jobs

In a blow to the Obama administration, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has concluded that the president’s economic stimulus plan created fewer jobs than expected and “crowds out” private investment.

A new report the CBO released on Tuesday finds that the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act may have boosted the economy in the short run by sustaining some 700,000 jobs at its peak in 2010 but “will reduce output slightly in the long run — by between 0 and 0.2 percent after 2016.”

The report estimates that the total number of jobs the plan produced was far fewer than the 3.5 million the Obama administration predicted during the peak of spending.

The CBO estimates that the stimulus is responsible for sustaining between 600,000 to 1.8 million jobs during this quarter, which lowered the nation’s unemployment rate by as much as 1 percent.

In July, the conservative Weekly Standard estimated that Obama’s stimulus package had cost taxpayers $278,000 for every job it created.

Federal Income Taxes on Middle-Income Families Remain Near Historic Lows

By Chuck Marr

Updated April 2, 2012

Federal taxes on middle-income Americans are near historic lows,[1] according to the latest available data.

That’s true both for federal income taxes and total federal taxes.[2]

Income taxes:

A family of four in the exact middle of the income spectrum will pay only 5.6 percent of its 2011 income in federal income taxes, according to a new analysis by the Urban Institute-Brookings Institution Tax Policy Center.[3]

Average income tax rates for these typical families have been lower during the Bush and Obama Administrations than at any time since the 1950s, as Figure 1 shows.

(As discussed below, 2009 and 2010 were particularly low because of the temporary Making Work Pay Tax Credit.)

Overall federal taxes:

Overall federal taxes — which include income as well as payroll and excise taxes — on middle-income households are near their lowest levels in decades, according to the latest data from the Congressional Budget Office (CBO).

“We have polled Virginia six times this election cycle and have found Barack Obama
with a decent sized lead over Mitt Romney every single time,” said Dean Debnam,
President of Public Policy Polling.“Barring a big shift in the political climate Virginia is
likely to go for Obama again, and that’s going to make it very hard for Romney to score a
victory in the electoral college.”

Scandal in Catholic church. It was the Popes butler!!!!
OMG!!!!... Vatican police on Friday arrested a person in possession of confidential documents in the first break in an investigation of the so-called “Vatileaks” scandal involving the leaking of secret papers including papal letters.

Italian media said the arrested man was someone who worked in the apartments of Pope Benedict but Vatican spokesmen said they would not disclose the man’s identity until they had a green light from investigating magistrates.

A Vatican source said the person was not a priest. Another senior source said:“It’s all very sad”.

For much of this year, the Vatican has been at the centre of a scandal involving the leak to Italian media of documents, some of them personal letters to the pope.

Some of the documents involved allegations of corruption, mismanagement and cronyism in the awarding of contracts for work in the Vatican and internal disagreement on the management of the Vatican bank.
