Coyotes spark concern in Upland, Heights

YOU LIVE IN THE MOUNTAINS! Leave them alone, clap your hands and they flee. Coyotes were here before you were, they'll be here after you're gone.

Don't be like that uptight SB Deputy who shot a local bear just for being a bear.(As I recall, he compounded his error by killing the animal in Upland)

On the serious, DO NOT FEED COYOTES OR BEARS. You are making them weak and dependent. You might as well shoot them, yourself.

What about the coyotes that have helped bring in 30 million illegal aliens through Mexico? THOSE are the greater threat.

Beavers said it is important for residents in these areas to make sure they're kids and small animals are safe when playing outside. Why should residents make sure they are kids? Or could this college educated writer mean THEIR.

Maybe the author wasn't sure if the kids were REAL kids, hence,".... to make sure they ARE kids..."

It's always best to side on caution and make sure kids are kids before coming to a conclusion. Either that or the author needs to repeat 5th grade English.

Let's just get rid of all the animals that live in the Mountains so all the citizens can be happy and quit complaining.

I would much rather live in a place that have coyotes than live in a place that is overrun by a pack of wolves. Coyotes run in small numbers or in singles. Wolves run in large packs and will hunt smaller animals (children, dogs), they stalk you and if you see one wolf there is probably 20 around you. We have this on a regular basis, when I'm in the hills here I'm always armed. I could care less about bears cause they dont mess with you unless their cubs are around, nothin like a ticked off mama bear. Of course theres also Elk that charge you as well but I'll save that for another time. If California or anywhere else would quit building homes in the foothills, this wouldnt be an issue. Good luck with that down there. If you hike in the hills, just carry pepper spray with you, they hate it!

If you live in No Upland or The Heights and you don't feel comfortable sharing your space with Bears, Mountain Lions or Coyotes you might want to move. They were there before you and will be there long after you're gone.

On another note:
10 years ago someone put bags of poisoned chicken caracasses along the 210 freeway route and wiped out a hole pack of coyotes. Anyone know if they ever caught the person responsible?

I hear and see coyotes all the time. I've only seen one bear near my house, though.

their howling used to add a nice atmospheric sound to the neighborhood, but lately their howls just sound like bloodlust. someone should organize a coyote hunting party, i hear their meat tastes like chicken.

It's "their" not "they're". Hundreds of journalists out of jobs and this is the best we can do?

Excellent point. That's the problem with Americans these days. We're more worried about a damn anmial that preys on rodents and such instead of the real threat the unscrupulous greedy Mexican coyote that transports illegal aliens into our country illegally. THATS the SOB that we need to worry about. Besides of you fools in the hills chose to live among the wild then deal with it.

As for me I never chose to live among millions of illegal aliens. They pretty much just imposed their will on us and now we have a 3rd world state here in Mexifornia. Let's face it, we've be Mexifornicated.

Coyote's in the Mtn's or height's is fine. But below the 210fwy is not. I have seen them walking along 4th st in Ontario. That is not acceptable. Not after last year's attacks in Chino Hills and elsewhere. If they cant be captured and moved .... then kill them.

I was out in the desert this weekend camping and two nearby campers lost their small dogs. I'm sure that neither lasted the night. Coyotes are wild animals that are extremely adaptable and have been here much longer than we have. If you live anywhere where you might have them, take basic precautions. There's no way that we can get rid of all of them.

I thought you were talking about illegal aliens. You mentioned:

* They're wild animals
* Adaptable (live off others)
* You might have them (they live everywhere)
* Theres no way to get rid of all of them.

I want to think that we can get rid of most if not all. Let's start with a few hundred thousand and then work our way to the millions.

If we close our borders, deport, cut off welfare and stop employing them THEN I believe that most will go back voluntarily. JUST like the coyote. Dont give them any reason to trespass into our country and they wont come.
