Wow -- what a great article written by Ms. Pryts in the Sharon Herald about DeWayne McCulley! We need more positive stories about overcoming diabetes and other challenges.
I bought Mr. DeWayne McCulley's book Death to Diabetes about 2 years ago. It's a great book -- very comprehensive and easy to follow. I lost 47 pounds and got off the diabetes meds in less than 5 months! I find that I can now eat ice cream every once in a while without any problems. I loaned the book to a friend of mine, who is getting healthier, and has lost a lot of weight. More importantly, she's taking LESS drugs! Everyone in Farrell and Sharon should buy his book. Everyone at his alma mater Penn State should buy his book also. How many natives do we have that are saving lives every day? Who went to FHS with him? What was he like in high school? Did he attend a church in Farrell or Sharon? Has anyone met him? I saw him on a video on YouTube -- he's funny, but he speaks so well and explains the disease in easy-to-understand terms. I saw a YouTube video where he visited Butler, PA last year. Who knows him in Butler? Shouldn't we do something to recognize this man? Most of our news stories are about something bad or negative, this is an uplifitng story that we should be proud of. After all, our community helped to raise him in a way.:-) Does he have any relatives left in Farrell or Sharon or nearby? Maybe we should invite him to a class reunion as a guest speaker or something. Thoughts? Jen p.s. I found his email on his website www.deathtodiabetes.com , it's engineer@deathtodiabetes.com. |

I met the author of "Death to Diabetes" (Dewayne Mcculley) at a Chicago conference -- he was outstanding!-- truly worth the money if you get a chance to see him.
I thought the lecture would be boring, but my wife convinced me to come along. Wow, I hate to admit it, but my wife was right. The author did a great job explaining diabetes and why we're all dying so fast. He explained the complexities of disease in terms that all of us could understand. But, he made it interesting by telling stories about his mother, his daughter, and family, and giving them the credit for his recovery from a coma. But, what REALLY impressed me was that he stayed long after the lecture was over, and answered all our questions, and autographed our books! When will Farrell/Sharon invite him HERE to speak? Have you been to Amazon.com ? His book "Death to Diabetes" is now the TOP-SELLING DIABETES BOOK! From someone who grew up in Farrell, PA! What are we waiting for? Sincerely, Richard |
