And the rich get richer...... So is the theme of this city, and state Time for real change, top to bottom, city to country. Locally it needs to start with those in Akron getting rid of THE DON.

InfoCision calls themselves the "Highest Quality Call Center Company in the World;" a more accurate description is the "Most Anal-Retentive Call Center Company in the World."

Their customers don't even see the people calling them - but they demand that their "communicators" wear professional business attire.

The way they monitor calls is downright oppressive and borders on the unreasonable.

My wife lasted less than a month working for them. They're such a demanding workplace that she nearly had a nervous breakdown.

Even if someone called flat-out says he or she isn't interested, the "communicators" are required to pester the person at least two more times before they can end the call. If this isn't done, the communicator can be sent home without pay for that day.

I applied to work there a few years ago - and knew pretty quickly from the experience in my job interview that this place wasn't a right fit for me. They should say "laid back people need not apply." I wouldn't be surprised if they make their supervisors and management staff members have corn-cobs implanted "where the sun don't shine"...

What part of "average" do you not understand? Clearly, you're a moron. No wonder you have to do telemarketing.

Do you take such pride in being such a moron, too? What part of this deal is problematic?

Gosh, I guess things are so bad, that the city hall hero and the council of boobs can't give away city property downtown to their business friends, they have to buy the property for them outside of the city.

Let's see. Akrons tax payers are spendin'$7 million towards a forgivable loan, to get approximately $170,000/yr in return for the investment. Some of y'all will be dead, and the rest will be great grandparents when the taxpayer break even on this deal.

Gosh, I can't wait for the city hall hero to ask for his tax increase again, because the city is broke.

"The council voted unanimously Monday to approve the $6.75 million purchase of two parcels of land, totaling about 7 acres, in the Bath-Akron-Fairlawn joint economic development district off Interstate 77."

OVER $960,000 per acre.

Man, that's got to be some really sweet land.

Wow - nearly a million dollars an acre for telemarketing jobs ? Is there also oil or diamonds on that land or what ?

Somebody somewhere is getting rich on this deal. I am very curious to know just who is selling this property, and what their relationship to the city of Akron is.

I can't imagine why they are even hiring "telemarketers"...ha ven't spoken to one in years and can't imagine why someone would talk to one.....who uses a house/land line phone these days and isn't on the "do not call" list...

They probably bought the land from David Brenner?
Either way, paying for the Mayor and councils mistakes is getting tiresome. My Dad told me that a fool and his money soon part!
Isn't this the same thing with fools as council leaders. VOTE THEM OUT!!!!!!!

It's amazing how council will unanimously vote to waste millions of dollars on this project and our mayor wants to sell the rights to our sewer systems for his pet project, yet the voters continually keep these crooks in office.

Anyone notice how they slipped in the settlement of the Brennan hotel deal without much ado?

We need to get rid of the city leadership ASAP, before they finish running us into the ground.

FYI...Being on the "do not call list" does not exclude you from telemarketers completely. Any charity, political party or business with whom you have had a previous relationship { transaction} can legally call you without facing repercussions or being fined. And with the lack of jobs in the area, this may be one of the only alternatives for many laid off from other jobs.

Another interesting coincidence Beta is that Infocision is buying the new U of A stadium naming rights for 10 million. Wonder if the 7 million property purchase is a payback of sorts on the part of the taxpayers?

My point was "who responds to calls from telemarketers" and "who uses a land line these days"...just a question fyi....

Their main business now is inbound telemarketing... you call them to buy products or donate money to organizations like the NRA or Christian Children's Fund and etc.
As far are the company itself, it's nepotism heaven... which is it's downfall quite frankly. People in positions, not because they are qualified, but because of who they know or are related to. That's why good, qualified people who start there, don't last long... not dealing with all the idiots. It's just not worth it. The company has really gone downhill since Gary Taylor left and morale is horrendous.
Well, at least maybe with this break, they can actually start paying people the bonuses they are owed.. instead of making lame excuses and 'rules' to take them away.

Definitely plausible. This whole stadium business would look pretty silly if a company like InfoCision bought the naming rights to the stadium, then up and left the city for greener pastures.

I'd agree. Definitely not a good place to work unless you are blood-related to one of the executive staff. And yes, nepotism runs rampant at Infocision. The only people making a good living from this place are those who sit at the right hand of the president or founder of the company. Everyone else has to scratch and crawl to get anywhere. Want to start depending on anti-depressants, anti-anxiety or high blood pressure meds? Just go apply for a job at Infocision. If this place ever went public and had a real board of directors governing the company, all those prissy executives would lose their special perks and their over-priced salaries. Too many people in positions they did not earn and are not qualified to handle. Gossip is a main attraction by those who should be more professional... Especially HR. It does suck to work there, and unless you are desperate, keep away at all costs.

I'd be willing to say a brother, a sister or some close family of the magnificent, the unique Donny Boy.

Didn't you read?

"Bath Township receives property taxes from the businesses in the JEDD, and Akron and Fairlawn split the income taxes of employees. Akron's share is about $2.4 million a year."

$2.4 million per year times 15 years (the minimum contract time) equals $36 million. As such, it's a good investment for Akron -- as opposed to doing nothing, and then letting those jobs (and $2.4 million in tax revenues per year) leave the city.
