Nice job reporting the storm an hour after it is gone.

That is one way to get out of a house that you owe $100k more than it is worth.

That is odd. A 5,000 square foot house built in 2006. Wonder if these folks were having financial or employment problems. I guess the insurance company can decide if they need to look into it.

I live in Oviedo, next to where this happened. The storm and strikes were AWFUL out here, like nothing I had ever seen before. I was scared in my own home. I feel terrible for the family who lost there home. I cannot believe you feel the need to chastise without fact a family of 5 who are now homeless!

I doubt if there was any foul play. I live near the airport (OIA)& the storm came through here too. It was more like a tornado lightning storm. I haven't seen lightning like this in a long time.

Kinda makes you wonder why our "esteemed" leaders are cutting fire fighters and police, rather than their administrative assistants and waste of money social programs? hmmmmm?

Disclosure - I am not in law enforcement or a fire fighter. Just an irritated citizen tired of the left wing social agendas my tax $ have to pay for, and the right wing... well... whatever the right wing is doing these days.

Wow, was the house not properly grounded? Seems like a large structure like this would need lightning rods; although that may only apply to commercial buildings. Either way, it was one crazy storm.

Thank God everyone is OK. I'm glad the firefighters weren't busy picketing downtown and actually came to put out the fire.

Why would Seminole County firefighters be picketing downtown?
I agree

I agree with you. This has happened twice in the past month. What people need to know (instead of the stupid comments) is how we can be pro-active for our next storm. Those of you that have dumb comments, try that one and offer something positive instead of the negative.

I'm just glad everyone got out alive. I live in Winter Springs and it wasn't as bad here but we could hear some big strikes close by.

Do you need to be told that there is a storm right outside your window? Gosh I saw it and heard it. Nobody had to tell me.

I was thinking the same thing. If I wanted an update on weather, I would probably opt for WESH news or Channel 13 over the newspaper.

LOL, oh stop the drama! LOL, too funny!

To everyone else, it was just a normal storm. The rain was heavy and fierce, but the lightning was nominal. Nothing special. Keep that in mind, don't feel safe just because it's not a major lightning storm. Last 2 times my house was hit, it was just after the storm and just before. Had to get the whole house rewired the second time and replace most of the appliances.

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Capricorn

You're dashing around in several directions at once today because you're gripped by the burning desire to get things done. You're in a tearing hurry, and the problem is that this could make you rather irritable if things don't go the way you want or people don't jump to it. You might also be feeling angry with a friend, even if you can't put your finger on what's wrong.
