Isn't that a parent's job - to monitor what your kids are doing and help them to balance school work, play & fun time? Why are Webkinz a problem - any toy that takes up too much of a child's time can be a problem. I think we are too quick to place the blame on something, rather than take responsibility and be a real parent. Remember, you are the parent - you can still tell your kids when they can play, watch TV, or go online. Webkinz are not the problem!

Two of my grandchildren have webkinz and some of my great nieces and nephews. I find them to be a great teachig tool. All games are teaching/learning games and improve math/reading/resoning skills. The kids never spend hours on the computer....they play and care for their webkinz some each day, but participate in many other activities in the home and outdoors.

I agree with Amy! It's our job as parents to monitor and REGULATE what our kids do with their time. They learn the skill of time management from us!

Parents need to learn how to say no, not right now.
These things are wonderful! My child has a great time playing with her friends that are hunderds of miles away that we can't see often.
Sure we have to get out in the real world, but I think as adults we have to get off our boom booms and get outside also.
Nothing wrong with the toy, just in how you parent.

Look here, I am a parent with a 9 and 6 year old daughters. I don't like them sitting on the compute all the weekend sitting on the computer and playing Webkinz. My wife stops me from doing so.

I Think its good for kids. Its like a neopets for kids. Just because its with computers dosent mean your child isnt learning more about how to care about animals!Let your child play with it, It could grow to have alot of animals and love and care for them, save the wild, Even work at the vet!

I have 5 Webkinz. They all are cats. When I bought my 2nd and 3rd (On sale for half off! Yay!) The lady at the counter said her kids LOVE the toys. And that they are a great learning tool. They teach you a lot of stuff. Just because it's on the Internet doesn't mean it's bad, does it?

It teaches them to gamble. It keeps them from being creative. It teaches them to be conspicuous consumers. What is good about this toy? Absolutely nothing!!

I personally love webkinz they give kids something to do on a rainy day.It also helps them learn how to take care of animals and to treat everything and everyone with respect. They also have a learning center in Webkinz World. It's called Quizzys Question Corner. And plus my kids only get them on:

1)their birthdays

2)Christmast

3)Hanukah

4)when their acount is going to expire

5)other

I also like that they are free.

I think that Webkinz is a way for children to prepare for the real world. It teaches them to handle money, take care of a virtual pet, and improve school skills at the same time.
Tes, I think Webkinz is a good thing.
