Mine too... I am now being asked to pay $108 more this months. My inlaws bill was over 500 very unfair. Something needs to be done.

Add one more to the list. My bill practically doubled as well. We were not even home almost half of the billing period and had everything turned off including the central air. This is ridiculous that I could use half the energy yet my kilowatt hours supposedly doubled.

Complaints can be emailed to the North Carolina Utilities Commission - consumer.services@ncmail.net That's a start. They take approximately 1 month to investigate and reply.

Maybe Duke Power will start telling people they have an 'energy leak' in their house. That is what the water company is telling the people in Charlotte when they complain about their $1000 water bill...they must have a water leak in their house...how many gallons of water have to 'leak' in order for your bill to be $1000 for one month?

ours went up $30.00 only because we had 2 diesels plugged in and we turned the electric water heater on instead of the propane...
think XMAS might have anything to do with it ???

I watched a neighbors home who was out of town for the month. Everything was unplugged and hot water heater cut off. The only thing running was the furnace fan motor electric wise. Heat was on 40. The furnace fan apparently used $58 worth of power for the month. Unbelieveable.

How much PAC money has Joe Sam Queen and Mitch taken from Duke Power? I am ashamed of both of them. Who is looking out for the people?

I just got my Janurary bill and it was still over $200. Plus it was a 28 day cycle. The only good thing I can say about Duke power is my power has stayed on through all these winter storms.

i have contacted the Utility Commission and filed a complaint. there is no logical explanation for my bill staying so high. i use WOOD heat not electric. mine is up $150 more than November. It stayed that way for Jan as well as Dec.

Right now I am watching an old episode (1956) of "I Love Lucy". Fred Mertz was complaining that it cost him $118 to heat the ENTIRE apartment building he owns...LOL

Just got my bill over the weekend. It went from $252 to $246.....usually runs me $120. Makes me want to throw up! I'm a single Mom on a fixed income....I can't continue to pay this. I hang most of my clothes to dry in the laundry room....energy efficient lightbulbs.....Only cook an average of 4 nights a week. Nobody is home during the day....we roll in after 7:30 3 nights a week. Uggggh.....will the struggle ever end?

hey same here. we work second and are gone at nights. we use gas heat and wood as a backup. duke can't use the excuse we turned up the thermostat and their phone reps said we must have a problem. i say bullsh$$. they are just sticking it to us and we have no way out. where is andy webb, mitch, chuck, mayor little, etc. when we need them to actually do something for us. guess none of them have the ability to actually stand up and say enough is enough to duke because of their political contributions?

My power bill was insane too it was like 200 dollars and before it was no high than 90 to 100 bucks. It's a one person household, I always turn my lights out when they're not in use, got the special bulbs, AND on top of all that I even turned off my heat during these "cold days" to see what Jan's bill looked like Still high as crap! I don't understand it I'm not using that much power, guess I'm gonna have to be like that family on the tv commercial that turns their lights on for 2 secs a day.
