We need to open this facility. There is too much over crowding at the county facilities for safety concerns to be met. This prison was not built to replace one of the older facilities, it was intended to take the overcrowding burden off of the system. Either open it or sell it to the Feds so that at least the community will be able to finally benefit from the facility as promised. I want to finally work at the facility I was hired for!!!! This all has to do with politics. If the facility was to open, the overtime pay outs at other facilities would more than cover the budgetary concerns. Dont build another airport, we need beds not more conveniences.

For one, you do not want the Feds to buy Thomson. The feds will hire there own people,state worker can not work for the feds.So everyone now working at Thomson would no longer work there or would the inmates.Read up on the difference between working for the State and working for the Feds.The best hope we have is that Quinn opens it next year or if we get a new Governor that person will open it. It is a wast of money having it sit there, but Quinn is too busy raising taxes to get money for projects he wants done. He does not care about Thomson facility or the community. Now if it was in Chicago it would have been open 8 years ago. We need to make sure the next Governor that gets in is not from Chicago because that is the only part of the State they care about.

I was hired to work at thomson prison. So i packed up my stuff said good buy to my family and said i will move u up here as soon as i can. That was on jan. 1 It is now june 10 and i now live in Joliet. I had no choice were to go because of my senority was a high number. I need to work so i moved and my family is still down south i need thomson open so we can be a family again. please help open thomson soon.
