I find it very sad that there are so many negative comments made about Goodyear employees. Most people that work there are decent, hard-working men and women trying to provide for their families. We are not extravagant or flashy. We don't go around making fun of other peoples lifestyles and most of the time keep our opinions to ourselves.
My mother always taught me that "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all". |

The existence of a union plant in UC has scared away new industries from locating to UC for years. The closing of GY will be disastrous for several years; otherwise, it will be a net benefit to this area. With a million dollar deficit at City Hall, we don't need GY to close.
Get ready. GY is on the Top Ten list of companies in imminent danger of bankruptcy according to a study I recently read. |

hello-detroit not a pretty site |
very good steve. uc can survive without goodyear. it looks like we may very well have to one day. |

im not big on yankees or spooks myself!

people get a life. Goodyear has another year left and then they are gone. Their third quarter profits were down this time. They have said that they are going. Bye good year!
Goodyear is going No where . They got rid of 550 of us. Now the first of the year they are going to hire about 300 for $13.50 a hour and roll on. Now you say how you know. It's my JOB to know things.
GOSH i hope you are right and goodyear packs it up and leaves union city. lets all pray they do. |
i say to goodyear alright already shut the mf down. we will all survive. one thing i know for sure i wouldn't put a goodyear tire on my ride if i won a set. i work there and have for years but im sick of the mean, wicked crap they put the employees through. SHUT THE F PLACE DOWN ALREADY or shut up

I have lived here all of my life and one of the first things I learned about the people that run this city was to never trust them with your future. My well being is in no way attached to Goodyear or any other factory around here.My opinion is if you don't think that one employer in an area can destoy it by leaving you need to google Gary,In and see for yourself.I personally could care less if they left because it would not harm me.
Gary,In & Pittsburgh,Pa-They both still exist but they are nothing compared to what they once were. |
I hope, They don't shut down, cause there are alot of people that would suffer. I don't wish the bad for anyone. I just wished if they were going to hire employees that they would hire people from Union City and not from far off. They need to take care of the citizens from Obion County first.
I agree it would be nice for them to hire from obion county first. ive noticed at shift change it looks like a street in chicago all the cars heading out to kentucky and elsewhere. but i guess they cant just pick obion countians. |
If anyone needs a job in Obion County! Check out Family Video, Decor Direct, Union City newspaper, and Walmart. They are hiring. There are so many people that are hurting in Obion County right now that need jobs. Please, I say, don't be picky, when it comes to needing food on the table for your family. Something is better than nothing, until you can find a better paying job.
What about hiring the best "man" for the job? |
Goodyear had to bring us hard working Yankees to Goodyear cause all of the rednecks in Union City are lazy! They just want to sit on their azzes and collect welfare checks and not do a darn thing but complain!
Buddy you people couldn't keep your own plant going. You had to beg to come to UC. You people love goodyear money so much you leave your wife and kids up in yankee country and you say you love your family. feed that bs to somebody else your a deadbeat father and a worthless husband. Does your wife and kids know money means more to you than them |
Well you have to go where there are good jobs and apparently the reason Goodyear left was cause they couldn't make it anymore up north. They had to moved to where the hard working Southerns live. If Goodyear closed here there will probably be alot of people moving where Goodyear will go so they can take care of there families.
The more money you make not only for Goodyear employees the more you have to spend. Why? When as long as we have the neccesities that we need. Why not have a savings account and help the ones that really need help. We would be better citizens and America could get out of the economy situation that we are in and be able to pay all of our debt off quickly. We Americans have become so selfish over the years and we need to STOP ACTING THAT WAY!

1 I bet you work at a part time job and make minimum wage. And miss work every chance you get cause you are too lazy to get up and do real mans work. My family came with me, and I work hard for the money I EARN, that being the operative word, I EARN my paycheck, I do a job that is dangerous and hard, but it is well worth the reward I get from a hard days work. Try hard work some time! |
