I have a child that will be entering this high school soon. I have heard all kinds of things about him having anger problems, picking on students of different races, disrespecting students and intervening in the educational process. Is there any truth to these rumors?

That takes money which I don't have. All my money goes to taking care of my children. Before I go off in the extreme to do that, I wanted to know if I should keep her from attending this school.

I have been very impressed with UCHS and Mr. Kennedy. The AP courses are incredible, and scholarships are everywhere.

Don't make this about a person. Make it about the best school for your child.

The closest you'll get to UCHS academically is a private school in Jackson.

What other choice do you have to take your child to a county school? The only test they can pass is a pregnancy test. Put your child in UC and keep him away from any oc school.

Only.stupid people with low acedemic expectations send their children to the county schools. Have you not noticed that even county teachers usually put their children in the city school system? Lol.

I remember UCHS when the kids had to have police escorts to get into the building safely. I also remember teachers having to make sure the students got to class in one piece. Public schools are atrocious, not to mention dangerous. Home-schooling is the only way to go, if you have the time and aptitude.

Obion County needs affordable private schools... it's almost a necessity. Can public schools guarantee our kids' safety? NO!

You think only county schools have student pregnancy issues? WRONG!! When I was in school, there were 3 girls pregnant in the same class -- at UCHS. That was a long time ago -- think things have improved since then? Doubtful.

You were in school a long time ago. That doesn't happen in the city school as much as it used to.

Dyersburg has an excellent private K-8 school: Christ Classical Academy.

It's worth the drive; it's worth every penny. Your children will get a top-notch education, and they will not have to deal with the filth of a government school. Their sense of "normal" will be skewed in the direction of Biblical principles.

Just depends on what you want for your children.

When did they have to have police escorts? I don't remember that.

And why would you think affordable private schools would be safer? If everyone can afford them, they'll be no different from the public schools. The reason private schools are generally safer is because a lot of the riffraff is priced out of them.

That was back in the 50's and 60's after the Supreme Court ruled that all schools had to integrate the blacks and whites. That wasn't just in Union City but all over the country. Carrie is revealing her age to be late 50's to early 60's if she was in high school at that time. My Dad told me about it because he was there. That was also back in the day when it wasn't illegal to have a rifle on a gun rack in your truck at school. lol

I was thinking she meant desegregation, but as you said, that happened all over the country. The way she worded it it seemed like she was saying that this was only a problem at Union City schools at some point.

Maybe that was a random slutty year for one class. lol No one in my class there got pregnant the whole 4 yrs but all 4 grades at OCCHS have pregnant girls walking around. It's like a badge of honor down there.

Just to let you know that great principal is not who you may think. First he will stabb you in the back so fast if he can get something out of it . Now he has said he will be the next Gary Huston. No one is going to stop him. He does not even beleive in our heavenly father. He also tryed do hard to stop the walk of hope. Now that is one sad man. We all need to pray for him because if he gets a higher job UC will lose alot of teachers and kids.
