Working on tips and complaints from local residents, law enforcement officials conducted ‘covert undercover drug buys’ in an attempt to stop the sale of illegal narcotics.

The sweep originally started May 11, when agents with the Task Force, along with members of the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department, arrested Kelvin W. Brown of 1304 Atwood St. in Hickman.

Brown was charged with one count of complicity to trafficking in a controlled substance within 1,000 yards of a school. Brown was taken to the Fulton County Detention Center and later transferred to the Hickman County Jail, where he remains on a $25,000 bond.

On May 13, members of the Clinton Police Department and the Hickman County Sheriff’s Department arrested Samantha Pryor of 201 Ezell St. in Clinton and served the sealed indictment on her from the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force. She was charged with one count of complicity to trafficking in a controlled substance within 1,000 yards of a school. She was transported to the Fulton County Detention Center where she remains on a $25,000 bond. After an early morning meeting at the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department, local law enforcement officials began the second leg of the drug sweep in the city of Fulton.

Working together, members of the PNTF along with members of the local departments located and arrested individuals with sealed indictments obtained by the Narcotics Task Force. The charges on the individuals stem from: trafficking in a controlled substance-cocaine, trafficking in a controlled substance within 1,000 yards of a school, trafficking in marijuana under 8 ounces, and persistent felony offender, totaling 36 charges on these individuals.

The sweep will continue as long as the individuals are still at large, according to the press release.
