Officer Gower

So is this stuff true about his being fired?

yep sure is

He is a great cop and if people would be faithful to there significant other it wouldn't happened. He shouldn't had been treated that way. I think ucipd is wrong in firing him.

This is crap. You can smash your own vehicle or scratch it all to hell or bust all the windows in it if its yours. So how the hell can they fire him over it. His wife was having a affair with another officer those two should be fired for there actions... trust is a big issues with our police department and this matter should be punished too. Trust me if i was having affair my husband would break alot of shit and the officers would say theres nothing they can do if its your possesions. Ive heard a lot worse things happening with the cops then this petty shit...

The wife and the married supervising deputy sheriff both work at Randolph County. Your right they should be punished and officer Gower should still have his job but I heard the police department didn't fire him.

Still wondering why he was not given the option to resign?

you don't know what it's like to be the victim of an affair until you are. It's the absolute worst feeling in the world. The anger and complete devastation that run through your veins, there is nothing compared to that. I understand why he did what he did, sometimes things hurt you so much, you lose control of your actions. Nevertheless, he still made some poor choices and sometimes despite the circumstances, you have to pay the consequences.

Affairs happen all the time...it is how you react to the situation. Why was he stalking her at her house at 2 am? Police and many other positions are held to a higher standards than most.

Maybe since Gower may be going through a difficult time right now . . it's best to let him be. I understand people have opinions, but if it had happened to anyone else, they would not want it broadcasted on Topix or any other site. I imagine he's going through enough whatever the circumstances are . .

well does that only apply to cops ?? If your arrested for misconduct and your not a cop its spread all over facebook and the internet just look at the arrest reports why is he any better ? If he loses his temper and trashes his wifes car hes not fit to be a police officer arresting others in domestic cases whats good for the public is good for him no exceptions

gower should have still went to jail, he shouldn't be an exception to the rule...what is that telling our younger generation! If you watch the news officers are held resposible for their actions in other towns...why would Union City cover this up!!!I have lived in other states and towns and have never seen such a messed up government anywhere else!

I never brought anything up about whether he is a good cop or bad cop. I choose not too. But, if what people are saying is true, then he's obviously going through a hard time right now. Would you be happy if your spouse was having an affair? Absolutely not. Sometimes people don't think their actions out, but they learn from their mistakes. Gower's home life & work life are two completely different things .. so don't bash him if you don't really know what's going on. I, personally, think that Gower has always been a very good cop & most people like him still. But, just because he is a cop does not mean he is a perfect person .. no one is. Everyone makes mistakes. You just have to learn from them. Don't bad mouth a person for one mistake ..

I will have to agree with you on this. If what happened, happened, then he should most definitely deal with the consequences that anyone else would have to.

so would you apply that same logic to the guy who killed his dog and eight puppies over an argument with his wife ? domestic abuse is never okay police or private person you lose your temper bust out windows it shows you have anger management issues quit making excuses for him . i bet if your husband or boyfriend tore up community property you would want him arrested . the same rules apply for everyone .

No cover up here...I guess the paper decided not to run the story based on NO charges filed by Winchester Police or by Randolph County Sheriff...hmmm only cover up I see is that both departments were not doing their job.

I'm not going to sit here an continuously argue with you. I said what I felt I needed to say. I am not making excuses for him .. I think he should be punished for what he has done just like any other person would be. I was saying because of it being an affair that he is probably going through a hard time ..

He's a public servant. As a Police Officer he should be held to higher standard. Just sayin'.

The issue we should be debating is, why is Ken Hendrickson taking the side of his Ranked Deputy that sat in dispatch with this married woman for 4 hours at a time? Most departments have a morailty rule. Not randolph county, go figure! Deputy Riggins was an outstanding officer, but if he cannot uphold the trust of his wife and children, how can he have the trust of the citizens? How many deputies have left that department, because of infedelity with the dispatchers? Come on Ken get that place together! Officer Gower made a poor decision, but not one he should've lost his job over. I want one husband that would walk up to see his wife all over another man (a man he works with and relies on to back him up) and just walk away cool. Reality check, its not going to happen! This is the article that needs to be in the paper, Ken cant keep his deputies out of dispatch long enough for them to serve and protect. Ken is basically supporting infedelity.
