"We literally had to take bullets..." Wow! I am impressed. Where did they get hit? Or should we suppose that he meant to say "virtually"?

Some figures you left out: The casino will also add about 300 felony's, 2 homicides, and 10 rape reports per year. What a joke, no DDR but oh yeah we need another casino. The only people playing at these damn things are the ones they are supposed to be "helping". How many violent crime investigations begin with an interview that starts "we were at the casino". There will be no vote, and I did not see any racist comments here "Starr". The ukiah valley does not need another casino. The way to fix it, is to stop going to them. bottom line....

It's not "us" going to them. It's the mexicans and bus people from SF who are there. You might get a straggling hick but that's about it.

I don't get it. We can have a vote to decide if we need or don't need a new mall (which would also bring jobs) but no say in another casino coming in? It makes no sense to me. I understand that the majority of the people have said no mall, I can live with that, Democracy FTW. But to have no say in this, come on!

BTW Starr, my feelings have nothing to do with the indians and I would asssume the same for most of the posters. We can drive to 8 casinos within an hour of us. Even on the business side how much saturation do we need. Sooner or later they are just splitting the same dollar into smaller pieces for themselves. It makes no sense anyway you look at it, leave race out of it!

Ha, a straggling hick! Have you seen the number of white folks running into the casino's? I think you need to take a better look.

Once the tribe has the okay from the feds to call it sovereign land, the locals basically have no say it it at all. We get screwed. The best way to keep casino's out of an area is not to sell the land to the tribes. However, money talks. Go figure. I guess Ken Fowler did not care much about the consequences of selling his lot, just looked at the bottom line.

Does this mean we can cut their welfare or what they call their federal Indian money. If so I am all for another casino.

Let me get this straight, the big reasons for the No on A were environmental impact, traffic congestion, water and "good paying" jobs. How is the casino idea any different, it will cause some environmental impact, it will increase traffic, it will use water (that the county report says we don't have) and it provides the same type of "low" paying jobs that the mall was going to bring (just fewer of them). Not to mention the potential for crime, which statistically does actually increase in areas with a casino. I have no problem with the tribes wanting to generate some kind of income outside the welfare system and I'm actually all for it but a casino. They obviously haven't looked at some of the tribes out of state that instead have opened catalog stores, internet stores, shipping centers, IT management firms, etc... all on tribal land and actually providing much better paying jobs to the tribe members than card dealer, janitor, line cook, or waiter/waitress.

Hey, "No Sence",(yes it is you, with the same mispelling of sense in the last sentence) as usual you make no sense. You will not be voting on the casino. The laws already allow tribes to go around all the laws that DDR tried to go around with Measure A. The tribes being "sovereign nations" is just so much bs. If they are sovereign, why don't they set up their own welfare system? Why are they even on welfare when they are now getting major money from the existing casino tribes?

How about all the white folks on welfare, driving there big SUV's. Making all that extra green money. When you clean your own house, than you can look at someone else. Lots of indians work hard to support their families.
I am glad to see them building a casino, at lest some one in this county is doing something.
This will create much needed jobs.
