police responded at 4:25 p.m. on Halloween to a report that several teens were drinking and smoking marijuana and found Loren Miller, 18, allegedly smoking with two 16-year-old boys on the steps of The Daily Journal office

Blah.....Blah.....Blah..... Why not, everyone else does it?These kids learn and usually follow the same footsteps from what they learn and grow up around. This is what everyone is wining about in our town to make marijuana legal..... it's just going to get worse!

Stupid little girl.
You risked your entire family on 300 dollars worth of WEED.
At least the police did not arrest the parents, who are legitimate patients.

Would the police make such a big deal of it if the girl had stolen prescription pills or a bottle of Vodka from her parents and sold it to fellow students? Why would the parents be investigated if they are in compliance with Medical Marijuana law? Can't parents have alcohol or other medicines around the house without getting in trouble? What's the difference with medical cannabis?

what possible charges against the parents would they file? they stated it was a medical grow in compliance with state law, so the girl should be charged with larceny. Unless there is a specific charge for not securing your medicine, INCLUDING prescription pills, the parents don't sound guilty of anything!

The parents need to learn how to lock shit up. They should be charged with contributing or negligence. The weed did nothing wrong though.

"Appropriate charges against the parents are being considered,"

This means that Allman & Lintott will get their payoff and the case will be dropped.

Really? charged with contributing or negligence for what? that girl knew the rules in her home, she screwed up, Is it really any different then a kid stealing a bottle of booze out of the liquor cabinet? ohh wait there is, marijuana is much safer ! and would definitely is safer then raiding kid brothers meds for ADD or any opiate based pain relievers.

I don't know the family and the examples I have given are just that, examples.

This isn't a new problem. Stupid! rising my lily white butt. it's nothing new to see 6th graders with 1500 bucks in their pocket at one school. the smell of pot on 80 % of the junior high and highschool students, since 90 % of the parents grow it or smoke it whats the deal?

I am sure "the parent's and Willits Watcher aka: Chicken Little, have all their meds and booze locked up with keys and even alarms.

Kids screw up and they "hopefully" learn their lesson after payin the price for their screw up. Seems like this should be all about her not the parents, she needs to learn her lesson and realize that her actions have effected more than just her. Sounds like a great opportunity for personal growth and responsibility for this girl.

The big deal is that, according to you, 80% of our junior high and high school students attend school under the influence of drugs! If that's not a big deal, I don't know what is. Does anyone else see this as a problem, and not an issue of what's legal?

Does anyone give a damn about how their kids are being exposed to MJ in this county? Education is no longer is a top concern. These MJ growing parents are setting a great example for their kids. Why would you need an education when you can live in Mendo county, grow pot, trim it, sell it and never have to work to make an HONEST dollar? You should all be ashamed that you can't even see right from wrong..whether you believe in medical marijuana or not. Oh, and of course, let's not prosecute the parents, lets prosecute the kids! Backwards thinking, gets backwards results! It's this thinking that has turned this county into the lovely place it has become.

I am all about education, most parents are, more and more people everyday are realizing that most of the dangers about MJ taught to us since 2nd grade are lies... if you still believe them then you have your head in a hole.

I do think there should be more education concerning MJ in school's , it would be a good idea for the kids to get the information they need to have a good understanding of the plant, it's effect, dangers and new found medical breakthrough's.

What they don't need is more outright lies, mis-information and fear mongering in hopes to control. They should be educated about the reality of prohibition and should be shown with the facts that it has done much more harm than good, they should be shown how it has made criminals out of otherwise good law biding citizens and is responsible for a huge black market and violence. They should be taught that in MJ's 5000 years of recorded use, it is responsible for 0 death's, yet prohibition and it's policy has created an environment in which is responsible for many death's.

Personally myself I am more worried about my kids watching a "girls gone wild" commercial or any of the many other seedy without morals programing on TV. Programing like that IMO can have a greater negative impact of the rest of the lives of our kids, than cannabis.

Your post reflects a destructive focus. You said little about the dangers of smoking pot, and a lot to say about the horrible, destructive results of prohibition. The fact is, smoking pot is totally unacceptable and dangerous for our children, thereby prohibited.
