BREAKING NEWS: Sheriff Deputies Contribute to death of 54 Year Old Man

California cops tasered a distraught son whose father was drowning after he and his brother complained that police were not doing enough to rescue their dad, while authorities prevented the two sons from making any kind of rescue effort themselves.

The latest example of police brutality unfolded in Mendocino Country California. A San Francisco family was visiting Portuguese Beach when the father accidentally fell into the water and was washed away from the shore.

Police arrived with rescue crews but made no effort to save the drowning man, named as 54-year-old Maurizio Biasini, and prevented his two 18-year-old sons, Dario and Andriano Biasini, from helping their dad as they insisted on waiting for the Coast Guard and a Sheriff’s boat.

CHP officers claim the sons were “getting in the way of rescue efforts” but charges of “interfering” are likely to be dropped, according to a KHSL TV report.

“I think they could have settled them down in other ways than that,” said the eyewitness who filmed the incident.

The father who fell in the water is still missing.

This is just the latest example in an epidemic of police brutality that has swept America in the last few years as the indiscriminate use and abuse of Taser devices increases exponentially.

Last week we reported on the case of Margaret Hiebing, a 54-year-old women who was tasered by Wisconsin police for the dangerous crime of sitting in the wrong seat at a football game in Madison. Hiebing, a Badgers season ticket holder, had taken a different seat because someone else had occupied her usual place at the packed game. When police approached Mrs Hiebing she explained the situation and refused to leave. Onlookers began to berate the cops after one of them reportedly threatened Hiebing with pepper spray.

One witness filmed the altercation on a cell phone, evidence which would later dispel initial police claims that Hiebing was causing an obstruction by sitting in the aisle.

Police then forced Hiebing face down on the ground and tasered her on the back of the leg.

Hiebing was then placed in a wheel chair and ejected as she was unable to walk out of the stadium.

The quality of law enforcement is really going down hill in this county. This is despicable.
These officers should lose their jobs or be put on suspension without pay for a couple of months to think about how to deal with the public in times of emotional distress. These boys were upset and watching their father die. Explain to me how does tasering them help?
I hope they sue the department for excessive force and contact state officials.

Everytime you have police that need to detain someone, they will make false charges because to arrest someone you need to charge them with something. Once arrested it get’s them over to the cell and they just drop the charges a day later, we should push that if officers make false charges, that is a criminal offence, it’s like if i knowingly accused someone of breaking the law, i could be charged with falsefying a complaint which you can be charged criminaly for. I don’t know why “public servants” aren’t under the same obligations. I would argue that penalties for public servants who abuse their powers should face a mandatory 2X sentence (to whatever crime they commit) as they are supposed to be serving the public. They should be leading by example, as they have inherent powers above other people.

This is truly criminal. The cowardly CHP officers should have allowed the two brothers to rescue their father if they did not have the courage to do it, which obviously they didn’t. What a surprise, Not!
Look for those of you who live out side California allow me to inform you of something the article left out. Police brutality is so commonplace here nobody even pays attention any more. The paramilitary cops here in just about every county have adopted overly aggressive, inhumaine policies which have little if any regard for human life.
The use of Tasers were sold by the law enforcement industry to the public as an alternative to deadly force but they are instead used as a mechanism of torture. A prod od sort. The cops use the severe pain created by intense electrical shock to force immediate compliance to ordinary commands.
Unfortunately for the citizens of every age, physical and mental condition the possibility that tasers may in fact steal their lives is of no concern whatsoever to those who are sworn to protect us.
People we need to srart bringing civil cases against these type of abuses. We must expose their torture for what it really is.

In fact it was the cops who were “Getting in the way of rescue efforts”, after the teens found them to be useless. If you’re drowning you don’t have time to wait for the coast guard, obviously. Maybe they might have had to save two people if one of the teens jumped in.
Maybe he could have reached his father to help him stay above water till help arrived.
Instead they decided to taser them, and press charges, because cops are angry control freaks.

You have succinctly described the Justice System in Canada. And no official is ever held accountable. Arrest, incarcerate, bail hearing (phony), court for setting court date, phony charge no evidence, stay or drop the charges. Much misery for the accused. No official is ever held accountable. Oh yea, if you get arrested for ANYTHING at all, and they can invent any charge they like without fear of reprocussions, you are stuck in the system until you get your day in court. That sometimes takes YEARS. This police / army brutality is (I think) much more dangerous then a Bush madman in power, or an Obama madman, or whatever fascist puppet / monster. If the police (and army) consist of nice “let us help the old lady accross the street and carry her bag” people, I don`t see how any crazed leader could install tyranny over a country. Even if you bring in foreign troops you run the risk of revolt by armed parts of government and a single ticket to jail. But if the cops get corrupt and the whole system become corrupt, it drives out the good guys (in stead of the other way around). It is then a minor step to an oppressive police state.

Therefore I think we in Holland probably won`t see tyranny in the short term, because our police is just far too nice for that. USA on the other hand, reports are not that good, although it probably varies a lot from place to place. The better places may want to think about breaking away from the USA (= federal oppression)? If that could be done, it might be better for states that can manage themselves. Maybe print a new currency, defend the border from oppressive foreign agents from the federal govmnt…

The BBC needs to wise up (but it won’t because it is establishment) because a recent ‘Have your say’ thread on their website had many commentators all for the police having these powers, one went as far as to say ‘its common sense really’. He clearly has poor thought processes and misses that one day he could be in just such a situation as these poor lads.

Yes canada and the US are suffering from this whole type of policing, like i have said, these issues need to be dealt with, when citizens are being brutally beaten to death or tazered prematurely we need to hold accountable, in the last few years in canada we have seen an increase in police brutality, i can remember at least 10 instances that police savagely beat someone to death just to face a simple reprimand and a 30 day suspension WITH PAY. There was one instance in Toronto about 3 years back where a mentaly challenged individual that the police were familiar with was beaten to death by 2 toronto police officers. The 7/11 video camera shows the police beating this guy, it showed that he was struck 89 times with night sticks, after about the 9th or 10th strike the individual was in seizure for the rest of the beating. These 2 cops got 1 month off with pay for murdering a mentaly handicaped individual, problem is that it’s their own precinct is the one that filed the charges, can you say conflict of interest??? if they chose not to persue them it never goes to trial. this has been happening country wide, even when politician or soldiers or police are found to behave like this, they get of on the fact “they have served the public for so long” that type of behavior indicates that they have been serving themselves.
The Niagara Regional Police as well as the Toronto Regional Police back in 2000 were found to be the MOST CORRUPT policing agency’s in the entire world, moreso than third world country police forces, just some food for thought!

I’m glad citizens are capturing these incidents on video. In the past, this stuff went on all the time, but before Rodney King there was no way to prove the police were using brutal tactics. Now that many people have cell phones that can capture video, the jury (and there will be one) will be better able to see exactly what happened in this case.

It would be one thing if this were an isolated incident, but police are caught engaging in this ridiculously trigger-happy behavior over and over and over again.
Then they have the NERVE to wonder why more and more Americans are starting to view them with contempt.
I know there are good cops out there, but there comes a point when “going along to get along” becomes a silent *endorsement* of this activity. Thus, if the cops who don’t abuse their authority want to avoid giving the public the impression that they approve of the behavior of the trigger-happy cops who do, then it’s high time that they start speaking out in unison against this. Start an organization if you have to.

Man, this might just boil over to a real big time confrontation against the cops. Sooner or later, society might just fight back. I know if MY FATHER was drowning cops were doing shit and not letting me do anything then, I’d probably get on one a those cops, take his taser and then let them have a taste of their own medicine. He could have said and done nothing and lived a very comfortable life.

B. Why were all those cops on land ,and not out in the water looking for the victim ? The search and rescue effort was in the water not on dry ground ! The boys were on dry ground so how on earth were they interfering with the search operation ? Another case of the cops oversteping their duty to protect the general public by violating the ”rights” of individuals to take risks they see fit to take ! These young men wanted to go in the water to try and save their father,now that would have been dangerous,but the brothers were ceartainly within their rights to do so.Just maybe the man could have been rescued if someone would have gone into the water where he was ?! How long was it before someone actually got into the water ? This story sums up this nation very well ! The people who need to be restrained and regulated are running the country while the common man is drowning in a sea of regulation and freedom stifling laws.Since when is there a law against going into the water to rescue a drowning family member ? This shows exactly why more police are needed… the lawless actions of this guys two sons hampered rescue efforts which made them loose site of the father thus loosing him and possibly causing his death. Cops are nothing but typical unionized government thugs. They don’t want to do their job but they get violent when someone else tries to do it instead. Makes them look bad and we can’t have that. In Philadelphia a few years ago, a bystander swam out and rescued a suicidal man from the Schuylkill River while fat lazy cops and firemen looked on. The guy died anyway, but at least the bystander brought him to shore.
In another incident, some charity volunteers were picking up trash and got beaten up by the sanitation workers who should have picked up the trash already. Try to avoid getting the cops involved if at all possible. Ask bystanders and neighbors for help instead. Unfortunately, police work attracts sadistic little men like garbage attracts flies.

To all police,firemen and rescue workers.You are public servants not public officials.It is your job to rescue people who are in danger and can not help themselves.It is also your job to facilitate public saftey, without restricting freedom and the individuals right to choose the course of action which suites their own needs.Scociety needs you to do your jobs because of the fact that there will be occasions when people will need help,and sometimes they will need help because of their own decisions.Now that is okay because that is what life and living free is all about,having the right to make decisions and when deemed nessacary choosing a course of action that may be dangerous or even life threatening.We can not be free if we are allowed to choose only the safe options all the time.If you do not want to be in the buisness of risking your lives to save people,then please find other employment and let those who are natural risk takers do the work you are supposed to be doing.Absolutely no one demanded that you choose your proffesions,therefore if you would rather limit individual freedom than actualy risk your necks by rescuing people then please step down and take a job at a daycare center or something. Keeping five year olds safe by ordering them around is something there is a real need for and generaly it is pretty dogone safe.

How terribly sad & stupid…on the cops part. If that was one of those cops parents, drowning, you can bet they’d be trying to jump into the water to help their parent. This was very extreme & senseless. Granted, the water was choppy and chances were real good that one of those sons could have been drowned as well….but…..to use a Taser? Puhleeeeze!!
Any ole reason to flex those cop muscles, I guess? The officers should lose their jobs.
Those young sons had every right to be distraught….and it wasn’t up to the cops to stop them from trying to recover their father.
