As 'NO on A' people gloat over their victory, Mendocino County takes one more step toward becoming 'Appalachia West'. The jobs will be in the drug trade (marijuana growing) and people will live in the backwoods looking for a future. That doesn't seem like good planning.

Hope you all love the site just as it is. The new-age dreadlock class will oppose all development at the site, the planning commission is a joke and no investors will take a chance on Mendocino county's dysfunctional culture.
Oh, so it turns out that SOLE's grandiose plans for the site were just a smokescreen. Figures since Shoemaker was involved.
DDR's plans were CONCEPTUAL, the plans put forth by SOLE were visionary prospects. |
Soooo Costcoidiot and your shortsighted buddies, You would give up your democratic right of self determination and accept the dictates of a CORPORATOCRACY? You call yourselves AMERICANS? YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED!!! I know you won't be though because you can't help it! It is just who you are. |
The GRANDIOSE SCHEME was DDR's! Conceptual this , Maybe that, Not just now and then We Can't Because you won't and it is all the fault of you Mendocino County Hicks, We will after you, HICKS, spend 20 million dollars for us to start the infrastructure because the people, HICKS, of Mendocino County voted to give us,DDR, the rights to demand anything we, DDR, want from you. Those of you who have FAILED to protect your rights deserve to lose them. Democracy won this time and the Corporatocracy lost. This was a good day for America! |
I wasn't for DDR's plans per Measure A and voted against it, but SOLE's alternative is a pipe dream laced with huge assumptions, such as 1. DDR is willing to sell the property (SOLE seems to ignore the fact that the land is privately owned) 2. Someone will purchase the property and is interested in renting out space for green tech businesses 3. That there are enough green businesses that want to move in. In addition, many green manufacturing businesses still require assembly line type work, and who says those jobs pay that much better?? The list goes on and on, and in the very near future, SOLE will dissolve, political victory in hand and we will still have nothing but a blighted, crumbling concrete slab strewn with re-bar for years and years to come. SOLE seems to me to be made up of primarily of local merchants understandably concerned most about their own bottom lines and individuals who are really good at saying NO to things that don't fit into their narrow, elitist view of what is green, sustainable, blah, blah, blah |
Ah Poo, SOLE has nothing concrete to propose for the site, nothin at all, these "interested conceptuals" are just that full of bs! Hope Shoemaker and Thornhill have to drive by that mess 20 times per day for the rest of their lives..........what a lack of accomplishment they put forth! HMMMMM let's see, they can say that they are the party of NO for Ukiah, ha. It is AlWAYS interesting when someone who can't afford to do anythihng but talk, want to tell folks that make an investment and are willing to bring something to the area gets away with shutting down a project.
| ||||
SOLE, or any other TRUE GROUND ROOTS MOVEMENT, as opposed to The Fake Ground Roots Movement of DDR's deign, has no responsibilities to the development of any PRIVATE PROPERTY! That is DDR's responsibility in this case. Suggested alternatives for site use as per the current zoning is SOLE's responsibility. To suggest to the public and the voters the possibilities of these alternatives is SOLES's responsibility! If DDR can't afford to do this project without Measure A then they can only talk through controlled, brainwashed, one horse minions like you and your complaining friends. If the DDR site is a mess for years to come remember only DDR can clean it up. THEY OWN IT! THEY KNEW WHAT THEY WERE BUYING! THEY DID DUE DILIGENCE! So, give them a call and complain!!!! Write Letters! Form a Ground Roots Movement and make it happen! But you will NOT do that because you want to be angry with someone nearby whom you can lay blame on for your own lack of ability to GET IT DONE! It is time for you to make an investment in this community of your time, energy and resources and get this site cleaned up by DDR if that is your beef. But you will not INVEST. Every time YOU DRIVE BUY MASONITE and it is a mess you will blame someone else and forget to remember that YOU DID NOTHING! SO LIVE WITH IT!!! Your lack of accomplishment is astounding! Your Complaints Ring Hallow and Your leadership and Community Values are WEIRD and SUSPECT! |
Actually, leading a countywide grass roots campaign that defeated the corporate Goliath that outspent them 15 to one is quite an accomplishment. And that was the only purpose of SOLE, to defeat Measure A. What happens next is initially up to DDR. Will they sell the property or not? At a reasonable price or not? The thing you right wing diehard yahoos don't get is that DDR was not going to build anything on that site for YEARS at the earliest. NOT FOR YEARS! So knock off the whining about the "jobs, revenue and local shopping" that were never coming here anyway. Yes, we need to build out Airport Business Park, insist the City do the proper infrastructure, insist the owner of the Palace Hotel tear it down or fix it up, encourage development at the Masonite site and a lot more, but you right wing whiners sitting on your brains and throwing stones will not move us forward. |
Even More Sad Truth For You, You have no vision of the future! You would economically ENSLAVE the future of the Ukiah Valley and Mendocino County with the likes of Measure A. Shame! |
This DAMN County is so stupid they don't even know what they are thinking before saying something. It's in DDR's hands for the former Masonite property. Yeah DDR had a plan but the same people that is saying DDR to do something with the land didn't want DDR to do anything with the land. Screw the few people that represent a county with full of BS. Shoemaker is a trouble maker that needs to clean himself up. Look at his property on State Street how in the HECK does that represent the future of Ukiah. His property needs to be condemned right away. The Palace Hotel needs to be torn down because it's sitting there rotting while people say they have ideas for it but after 20 years nothing has been down. Tear that Ugly Piece of Crap down let there be a celebration Vegas style by imploding the Palace. As for me I will continue to spend my money out of town and now I will really boycott any small local business that is making me drive out of town to buy anything. Boycott this crazy locals.
Soooo SHAME ON YOU. You think anyone outside of Mendocino County is an outsider as if you think they are criminals or out of country moving in. How anti american are you to wage a war against corporations that AMERICANS work for. Last I thought this is America where you can start up a business and have competition. If the other side loses that's the way it is. Corporations started small as a mom and pop store does such as WalMart in a small town in Arkansas and now is a thriving business. Started by one man with an American dream and made his dream become a corporation that helps consumers have choices in life. I favor corporations because they started small and made it big by working hard for it. These corporations are Americans just like you and me are and if you think that these corporate people are the enemy then you are anti American. SHAME ON YOU SHAME ON YOU SHAME ON YOU |
You are the few with the BS! An election just happened and DDR's BS was not purchased by the MANY who actually do care. Your personal vendettas have hurt you and the dorks like you. GET A CLUE, WE DO NOT CARE!!! Evil ones like you bring your personal trash to public discussions then your feelings are hurt so you are going to take your toys and go home. That's OK! GO HOME! |
Sounds like you need to Slam some Jack Daniels or take a couple of Valium. You know if you huffed a BIG FATTY you wouldn't need the other stuff and you be supporting the local economy!
If i had self determination there would be a costco in the Ukiah valley, preferably in the former masonite site. What would you do with the site? |
Ask DDR! They bought that dog! By the way you are only one of us. We executed our combined self determination at the election and decided that DDR's re-zoning plan sucked! Call Costco and ask them if they are still interested in the existing site by the airport that they have already designed a facility for. Costco never planned to be a part of DDR's PIG. In fact they have already said that at this time the Ukiah Valley does not suit their needs. Sorry, that's Costco's decision. I would love a Costco here too but DDR was never going to bring one here. That was a DDR RED HERRING! |
I like it the way it is! And DDR is done it will soon be another penny stock.
They best focus on places who care less about sustainable county and more about capitalistic down fall. Consumerism is over it can not be sustained if can't trow it away is has no value to the economy this MUST change. |
Take your dreadlock dirty A** out of our community. Your so called morals are air pollution to this community |
If you are so much against Capatialism and Materialism move out of the country to a 3rd world state. Your opinions are noise pollution |
